Us gamblers will get one more shot at greatness Sunday Night when the Atlanta Falcons take on the Washington Commanders. I think I speak for all of us when I say, “We’re taking it.” Now the haters are going to say that this game will be played in the pouring rain and they may be right. But, what they’re forgetting is, we don’t care. We’re gamblers. We’ll bet on any game, played in any weather. That’s just how being a gambler works. All we have to do is, adjust our strategy a little and fire away. We’ve been doing it since we were kids so we are battle-tested. The books have no idea what’s about to hit them.

We Can Get Loose With The Falcons
For the past decade, I was a Michael Penix guy. Maybe the biggest Michael Penix guy on the planet. I followed him from his time at the University of Indiana, all the way to his run at the University of Washington. I learned one thing, the guy can play.
But one thing we can all agree on, the NCAA is not the NFL. Penix has every reason to be nervous.

Luckily for Penix, his first NFL start came against the closest team the NFL has to NCAA level in the New York Giants. When we talk about bad football, the Giants are the definition of just that. From top to bottom, no part of that franchise is what anyone would call good right now. It was a great place for Penix to start.
Fast-forward to this week and Michael might have a problem. The Falcons are on the road and playing the 10-5 Washington Commanders. Being on the road is pretty big here because Penix is an indoor cat and this game is outside. Not only is it outside, but it’s in pretty bad weather against a pretty good team. Two things Penix has not seen so far in his brief NFL career.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Falcons do everything they can to shorten this game by keeping the ball on the ground. And when they do throw it, we’re probably looking at controlled tosses to Drake London. London has been targeted 10+ times in six games this season. Last week, Penix looked for him eight times. Translation, we could get a little negative-correlation here by taking Penix under 18.5 completion with London’s 5+ receptions. Feels right.
Jayden Daniels Is Actually Pretty Good
I’ll admit it, when Jayden Daniels was in college, I didn’t think he was that good. I didn’t. I thought he was too small and, on top of that, he wasn’t accurate enough for the NFL. It takes a big man to admit when they were wrong. Everyone knows that.
How do I know that I was wrong? Look at this list. Numbers don’t lie.
QBs with the best passer rating this season:
Lamar Jackson – 121.6
Jared Goff – 112.2
Joe Burrow – 108.5
Sam Darnold – 105.4
Jalen Hurts – 103.7
Baker Mayfield – 103.5
Tua Tagovailoa – 101.4
Jayden Daniels – 101.3
Josh Allen – 101.2
Derek Carr – 101.0— NFL Stats (@NFL_Stats) December 27, 2024
But here’s the thing, as good as Daniels has been all season long, I don’t think he can throw for more than 225 yards tonight. That’s a bold statement but it’s one I’m making. The funny part is, it’s not even because he’s not good. We all know the guy can ball, but this just isn’t the spot for balling out.
For starters, this game is going to get impacted by the weather. It’s supposed to rain all night in the DC area and, on top of that, we’re looking at a little wind. Not hurricane force, but we could see 30+ mph gusts. Couple that with the fact that Washington could play with a lead and Atlanta takes forever to run plays, and we’re looking at an under type of night. Feels wrong, but it also feels right.

Week 17 of the NFL season is here and Sunday Night Football features an intriguing matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and the Washington Commanders. Both teams are looking to finish their seasons strong and secure a win in this primetime showdown.
For those looking to add some excitement to the game, same-game parlays are a popular betting option that allows you to combine multiple bets within the same game for a potentially bigger payout. Let’s take a look at some key factors to consider when creating a same-game parlay for this matchup.
First and foremost, it’s important to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of each team. The Falcons have a potent passing attack led by quarterback Matt Ryan and wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson, who has been a versatile weapon for Atlanta all season. On the other hand, the Commanders boast a solid defense that ranks in the top half of the league in points allowed per game.
When it comes to betting on this game, you may want to consider including bets on the total points scored, as both teams have shown the ability to put up points this season. Additionally, you could look at player props for key players like Ryan, Patterson, and Commanders quarterback Taylor Heinicke.
In terms of the spread, the Falcons are currently favored by a few points, so you may want to consider including a bet on the point spread in your same-game parlay. However, it’s worth noting that the Commanders have been competitive in most of their games this season and could potentially pull off an upset.
Overall, creating a same-game parlay for the Falcons vs Commanders matchup can add an extra layer of excitement to an already compelling game. Just be sure to do your research, consider all factors, and bet responsibly. Good luck!
