  • The Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles are both relatively healthy heading into their first game of the season
  • CB Isaiah Rodgers and OLB Devin White are two notable players ruled out for Philadelphia

With one game under the NFL belt,  the Green Bay Packers play the Philadelphia Eagles abroad on Friday night. This contest comes from Neo Quimica Stadium in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Heading into the contest, neither side has many injury question marks as they start their journey to win Super Bowl LIX.

The Packers vs Eagles odds show Philadelphia favored by a mere two points. Green Bay won nine games last year thanks to a hot second half, while Philadelphia is trying to rebound from a nightmare final six weeks (1-5) and a loss to Tampa Bay in the NFC Wildcard Game.

For the Packers, the only player ruled out is Arron Mosby (personal). The Eagles will not have the services of Isaiah Rodgers and Devin White in their defensive ranks.

Green Bay Packers Injury Report

Player-Position Injury Game Status
Arron Mosby-DL Personal Out
Tucker Kraft-TE Back Questionable
MarShawn Lloyd-RB Hamstring Questionable
Emanuel Wilson-RB Hip Questionable

It’s a good thing that not many significant players are injured, with only Arron Mosby (personal) ruled out. Running back MarShawn Lloyd still may play. However, with Josh Jacobs (three-time 1,000-yard rusher signed from Las Vegas) starting, losing Lloyd or Wilson is not a big loss. Tucker Kraft may not play but Luke Musgrave would take his place as Jordan Love’s safety valve.

The current NFL public betting trends are pointing towards the Packers covering, with 67% of bets being placed there. However, 71% of the overall money is on Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Eagles Injury Report

Player-Position Injury Game Status
Isaiah Rodgers-CB Hand Out
Devin White-OLB Ankle Out

The Philadelphia Eagles are attempting to get back to the top of the NFC East this season after a late swoon dashed their division hopes and more.

Beginning their season without too many impactful injuries is good. Even though Rodgers and White are ruled out, Rodgers was suspended for the entire 2023 season due to gambling violations. First-round pick Quinyon Mitchell will take his place. As for White, Nakobe Dean replaces him in the linebacking corps.

The Packers vs Eagles player props see Nakobe Dean as an interesting target for tackles. He is listed at -135 for the Over of 7.5 on Friday night. Expect opposite starting corner Darius Slay to pick up any slack from Rodgers being out.

How Could Injuries Affect Packers vs Eagles Betting Lines?

Fortunately, heading into a season, there aren’t too many injuries to get concerned about. Even though the Eagles will not have two defensive starters, Vic Fangio (defensive coordinator) still has depth and this allows for adjustments. Last year, the Eagles really were one of, if not, the worst team defensively over the second half. There almost is nowhere to go but up.

As for the Packers, Mosby was not going to see much of a role. Wilson and Lloyd, both questionable, are utility running backs at best. Luke Musgrave was already going to see more snaps in Week 1 from the tight end position. If Tucker Kraft is out, that is not worrisome.

Points are expected to be scored in this game. Both offenses can create difficult defensive matchups in bunches. Love has never faced Philadelphia as a starter but Jalen Hurts did face Green Bay. He ran for 157 yards, passed for 153, and threw for two scores in a wild 40-33 win back in 2022.

While very few would expect a repeat of that 73-point affair, the offenses should have the upper hand again.

The Green Bay Packers are set to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in their Week 1 matchup on September 6th, and both teams have released their injury reports and list of inactive players for the game.

The Packers will be without a few key players for the game, including wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown who is dealing with a knee injury and will not be suiting up for the game. Linebacker Oren Burks is also out with a chest injury, while defensive lineman Kingsley Keke is listed as questionable with a knee injury.

On the other side of the field, the Eagles will be missing a few players as well. Wide receiver Jalen Reagor is out with a shoulder injury, while offensive lineman Landon Dickerson is also sidelined with a knee injury. Linebacker Davion Taylor is listed as questionable with a calf injury.

Both teams will need to rely on their depth and backups to step up in the absence of these key players. It will be interesting to see how these injuries impact the game and how the teams adjust their game plans accordingly.

Overall, injuries are an unfortunate part of the game, but both the Packers and Eagles will need to overcome these obstacles and put forth their best effort in order to come out on top in their Week 1 matchup. Stay tuned for more updates on the game and how these injuries may impact the outcome.
