- The NFL is back with another monster slate for Week 2 on Sunday, September 15th, 2024
- A great way to get in on the action is by betting NFL player props and there are more than enough again this Sunday
- See below to find two of my favorite player props to bet for Week 2
We split last week, with Tony Pollard falling just three yards short of a +135 cash for us. Lucky for us, our Pat Freiermuth winner was priced at +105, so we ended up stuffing a little cash in our pockets. Generally speaking, I think we should be looking for as many plus-money opportunities as possible since the books hand them out like candy every week. We just have to decipher which ones are good and which ones are dumb.
One of my favorite things about the NFL is the fact that everyone only plays once per week, and most play on the same day. That gives us gamblers plenty of time between games to dive deep in every market offered. It also makes spraying the board a logical option. It’s really the only option if you think about it. Here are two bets I have so far for NFL Week 2.
Week 2 NFL Player Props and Odds
Player | Rush Attempts | Rushing Yards |
---|---|---|
Tony Pollard (Titans) | 12.5 (Ov -115 / Un -115) | 45.5 (Ov -125 / Un -105) |
Player | Rush Attempts | Rushing Yards |
Derrick Henry (Ravens) | 69.5 (Ov -135 / Un +105) | 31.5 (Ov +130 / Un -165) |

Tony Pollard Looks Legit
It’s always fun to go through the opening player prop lines because we will almost always find bad numbers and prices. In their defense, the books don’t really have everything they need to price every situation in the NFL. There are just too many attack surfaces this early in the season given all of the markets offered.
One situation that has my attention is the running back rotation in Tennessee.

After Week 1, it looks like the Tennesse backfield belongs to Tony Pollard (kind of). Pollard handled 39 snaps compared to 29 from Tyjae Spears. Obviously it’s only a difference of 10 snaps but people were saying Pollard could play LESS than Spears. We all heard them saying it.
All of those snaps only led to 16 carries, but on planet Earth, that’s enough to gain 50+ yards. I’m not sure what Fanatics was thinking when they posted this number but that’s not for us to figure out. On top of volume, we also have a soft target in the New York Jets. We just watched them get steamrolled by Jordan Mason Monday Night. Pollard should get home on 50+. Feels right.
- The Pick: Tony Pollard 50+ Rushing Yards (+100) – Fanatics
Derrick Henry Eats Sunday
Another market where things can go sideways quickly for the books is the rushing attempts market. Some will say it’s easier to price, and it is, but mistakes will still happen. Especially when we are talking about beasts like Derrick Henry.
Derrick Henry is set up to pick up yards after contact against the Las Vegas defense 👀
Henry ranks 2nd among RBs in yards after contact per carry. He’ll face a Raiders defense that ranked 29th in yards after contact allowed per rush last year pic.twitter.com/hWzk6UrVrN

Obviously Derrick Henry is no scat back. He’s a big dude that will get fed late in games to close them out. For that reason, his attempts will be all over the map. Some games he’ll see 12, while in others he could go 20+. He’s a game script guy. Nothing wrong with that.
Last week, the Ravens were in a neutral to negative game script against the Kansas City Chiefs. Still, Henry saw 13 carries. while Lamar Jackson handled the rock 16 times. There is no chance in hell the Ravens want Jackson running that many times. I’m pretty sure they will lean on Henry in this thing given the situation. They are 9-point favorites against a Las Vegas Raider team that just isn’t good. Feels right.

As Week 2 of the NFL season approaches, many fans and bettors are already looking ahead to Sunday’s games and considering which player prop bets to place. Player prop bets are wagers placed on specific individual player performances rather than the outcome of the game as a whole. These bets can add an extra layer of excitement to watching the games and can also be a lucrative way to cash in on your football knowledge.
Here are some top NFL player prop bets to consider for the Sunday games on September 15:
1. Patrick Mahomes – Over/Under Passing Yards
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is coming off a stellar performance in Week 1, throwing for over 300 yards and three touchdowns. This week, Mahomes faces a tough matchup against the Oakland Raiders, but he has shown time and time again that he is capable of putting up big numbers. Consider betting on the over for Mahomes’ passing yards in this game.
2. Saquon Barkley – Total Rushing Yards
The New York Giants running back had a solid outing in Week 1, rushing for over 100 yards against the Dallas Cowboys. This week, Barkley faces a weaker Buffalo Bills defense that gave up over 100 rushing yards to the New York Jets in their season opener. Look for Barkley to have another strong performance and consider betting on the over for his total rushing yards.
3. Julio Jones – Total Receiving Yards
The Atlanta Falcons wide receiver is one of the most talented players in the league and is always a threat to put up big numbers. Jones had over 100 receiving yards in Week 1 and faces a Philadelphia Eagles defense that struggled against the pass last season. Consider betting on the over for Jones’ total receiving yards in this game.
4. Baker Mayfield – Total Touchdown Passes
The Cleveland Browns quarterback had a rough start to the season in Week 1, throwing three interceptions in a loss to the Tennessee Titans. However, Mayfield has a chance to bounce back against a weaker New York Jets defense this week. Consider betting on the over for Mayfield’s total touchdown passes in this game.
5. Christian McCaffrey – Total Yards from Scrimmage
The Carolina Panthers running back is a dual-threat player who can make an impact both on the ground and through the air. McCaffrey had over 200 total yards from scrimmage in Week 1 and faces a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense that struggled against the run last season. Consider betting on the over for McCaffrey’s total yards from scrimmage in this game.
These are just a few of the top NFL player prop bets to consider for the Sunday games on September 15. Remember to do your research, consider the matchups, and make informed decisions when placing your bets. Good luck!
