  • The NFL is back with a gigantic Week 1 slate for Sunday, September 8th, 2024
  • A great way to get in on the action is by betting NFL player props and there are more than enough Sunday

It’s time. We’ve waited months for the NFL to come back into our lives and our patience is paying off. Big time. We’ve got 13 NFL games coming our way Sunday so there is no shortage of action. All we have to do at this point is look at the board, and get locked in. Feels easy.

Obviously we are going to spray every market but one area we need to focus on is the player prop market. Back in the day, it wasn’t easy but now, there is literally a line for everything. Since that’s the case, the attack surface for the NFL is huge. We’re talking 1000s of ways for us sports bettors to get loose. Lucky for us, I went through every single line there is and pulled out the two best for the Sunday slate. It’s time.

Tony Pollard Is Worth a Bet

The Tony Pollard situation in Tennessee is a tricky one. Sure, he’s a legit running back in the NFL, but is Tennessee the best place for him? They already have Tyjae Spears who is highly likely to get a ton of work. So what the hell is Tony Pollard’s role going to look like.

Lucky for us, all we have to do is watch what he did in Dallas to get the answer to that question.

It’s tough to know what role these coaches have in mind for these players but we must try to figure it out. We owe it to ourselves. What we know about the Titans is they hired Nick Holz to be their Offensive Coordinator which is big. He’s a pass-happy guy which is different from what they had before. We like that because it makes the props hard to price for the books.

What I think we’ll see is a Tennessee team that wants to throw. Against the Chicago Bears in Week 1, they may be forced into throwing since they should play from behind. What’s even better is, last season, no team in the NFL gave up more receiving yards to the running back position than the Chicago Bears. We’re talking 1000+ here people. Simply put, Tony Pollard is going over 15+ receiving yards. Feels right.

  • The Pick: Tony Pollard Over 15+ Receiving Yards (+135)

Pat Freiermuth is Locked In

Obviously we’re going to need more than one bet for Sunday. There are a million games and if we’re being honest, we’ll need even more than two. With that in mind, let’s think about another move and let’s stay in the receiving yards market. It’s by far the easiest market to exploit since it’s hard to price by nature.

The man I think we should back is a guy in Pittsburgh who got a slight upgrade at quarterback this offseason.

The thing about Pat Freiermuth is, he’s not a bad tight end. He kind of went off in his rookie season with a washed-up Ben Roethlisberger throwing balls to him. Then it all went downhill with shoddy (at best) quarterback play. Now, he’s got Russell Wilson throwing to him which is a step up. Sure, Russ is far past his prime but he’s still better than what’s been in Pittsburgh over the last two seasons.

This Sunday, the Steelers will visit the Atlanta Falcons which is good for us. I’m pretty sure the Falcons will play this thing from ahead which will force the Steelers in to throwing the ball. Given the lack of depth at the receiver position, Russ is going to have to find Freiermuth. Throw in the fact that only three teams in the entire NFL gave up more receiving yards to the tight end position last season than the Falcons, and now we’ve got a move. Freiermuth is definitely going for 25+ receiving yards. Feels right.

  • The Pick: Pat Freiermuth Over 25+ Receiving Yards (+105)

As the NFL season kicks off on Sunday, September 8th, fans and bettors alike are eagerly anticipating the action on the field. One popular way to get in on the excitement is by placing player prop bets, which allow you to wager on specific individual performances rather than the outcome of the game.

For Week 1, there are several intriguing player prop bets to consider. Here are some of the top options to keep an eye on:

1. Patrick Mahomes – Total Passing Yards
The reigning MVP and Super Bowl champion, Patrick Mahomes, is always a popular choice for player prop bets. In Week 1, Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will be facing off against the Jacksonville Jaguars. With a high-powered offense and a penchant for putting up big numbers, Mahomes is a strong candidate to surpass his projected passing yards total.

2. Saquon Barkley – Total Rushing Yards
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is one of the most dynamic players in the league and a threat to break off a big run at any moment. In Week 1, Barkley will be going up against the Dallas Cowboys, a team that struggled against the run last season. Look for Barkley to have a big game on the ground and potentially exceed his rushing yards total.

3. Odell Beckham Jr. – Total Receiving Yards
After being traded to the Cleveland Browns in the offseason, Odell Beckham Jr. is looking to make a statement in his first game with his new team. The Browns will be facing the Tennessee Titans in Week 1, and Beckham has the talent to put up big numbers against their defense. Keep an eye on his receiving yards total as a potential prop bet.

4. Aaron Donald – Total Sacks
On the defensive side of the ball, Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald is always a force to be reckoned with. In Week 1, the Rams will be taking on the Carolina Panthers, and Donald will be looking to get after quarterback Cam Newton. Look for Donald to potentially exceed his projected sack total in this matchup.

5. Julio Jones – Total Receptions
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones is known for his ability to make tough catches in traffic and move the chains for his team. In Week 1, the Falcons will be facing the Minnesota Vikings, and Jones could see plenty of targets from quarterback Matt Ryan. Keep an eye on his reception total as a potential prop bet.

When placing player prop bets for Week 1 of the NFL season, it’s important to do your research and consider factors such as matchups, injuries, and recent performance. By staying informed and making smart choices, you can add an extra layer of excitement to watching the games and potentially come out ahead with some winning wagers. Good luck!
