- The US Open begins on Thursday morning at Pinehurst in North Carolina.
- Last year, Wyndham Clark won the US Open title. This year, he has +7000 odds to repeat as the champion.

The US Open tees off in North Carolina on Thursday morning. Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Rory McIlroy and all the biggest names in golf will be there competing for a major title. The first round begins at 6:30 a.m. ET and coverage will be handled by the USA Network and Fubo.
US Open Best H2H Picks
- Sahith Theegala over An Byeong-hun (-130)
- Max Homa over Hideki Matsuyama (-105)
There aren’t many sportsbooks out there offering head-to-head bets for Round 1, but DraftKings has you covered. Two picks that I like that have good value are Sahith Theegala to best An Byeong-hun in Round 1 (at -130 odds) and Max Homa to take down Hideki Matsuyama in the first round on Thursday at -105 odds.
Homa finished tied for third in The Masters this year, so he can perform under pressure. Theegala finished tied for 12th at the PGA Championship, which was his second-best finish in a major to date. I like him to post a lower score than An Byeong-hun on Thursday morning.
US Open Longshots to Target
- Max Homa (+5000)
- Wyndham Clark (+7000)
- Will Zalatoris (+7000)

There isn’t much value in betting Scottie Scheffler to win tournaments these days. He’s +300 on bet365 to win this weekend. So unless you’re super-confident in his impending victory, it’s probably best to sprinkle some money on some guys with longer odds.
I’m going with the aforementioned Homa at +5000 odds, Wyndham Clark at +7000 and Will Zalatoris (+7000) as my 3 longshot picks. Homa has all the talent in the world. He has played some incredible rounds, but sometimes struggles with consistency. If (and it’s a big if) he can put together 4-straight great rounds, his talent level is high enough to claim his first major.
As mentioned earlier, Clark was last year’s US Open champion. He knows what it takes to win at this tournament. Even though it’s at a different course than it was in 2023, Clark is accustomed to the pressure. If he’s in the mix on Sunday, his experience should be a big help.
Finally, give me Will Zalatoris as a longshot option. What’s my thinking? Well, we just saw Xander Schauffele win the PGA Championship after finishing as the runner up in a few different majors. Zalatoris has finished second in the PGA Championship (2022), the Masters (2021) and tied for second at the US Open (2022).
He has an impressive 7 top-10 finishes in majors to his name. Basically, the talent is there and he’s probably going to win a major at some point, so why not this weekend? If he can shed his “always the bridesmaid, never the bride” status, he’ll join Schauffele as a former Robin who finally gets his turn to be Batman.
