Best Super Bowl 59 First TD Prop Bets
- Jalen Hurts (+650)
- Xavier Worthy (+1100)
It should be noted that neither one of these teams is more likely to start with the ball first than the other. Both KC and Philly routinely defer possession to the second half if they win the coin toss. They each did that in the conference championship round, and both scored a TD on their first possession.
The Eagles scored on their first possession in all three of their playoff games. Three different players accounted for those scores, including Barkley and Hurts. Barkley scored three times versus the Commanders in the NFC Championship, after scoring twice against the Rams in the Divisional Round.
He was eighth in total touchdowns this season with 13, recording multi-touchdown performances eight times. His current odds don’t offer much value, and is perhaps a better bet to score 2+ touchdowns at +295.
If choosing from the Eagles, Hurts is the answer. He’s Philly’s defacto goal line back, and a threat to score from anywhere. Hurts had eight runs of 20+ yards this season, including a 44-yard TD scamper in the Divisional Round. The last time he faced the Chiefs was in Super Bowl 57, and he rushed for 70 yards and three touchdowns.
As for KC, the Super Bowl 59 odds favorite, we don’t want to be a prisoner of the moment and flock to Mahomes after his two TD performance versus the Bills. Philadelphia has been excellent at limiting quarterback rushing production, surrendering only three rushing TD to that position all season.
Xavier Worthy 2024 Playoff Stats
Receptions | Yards | TD |
---|---|---|
11 | 130 | 1 |
Instead, let’s target Xavier Worthy. If both Chiefs playoff games are any indication, they desperately want to get him involved early and often. Worthy leads all KC players in targets and receptions in the postseason. He scored on a beautiful catch and run against Buffalo, and was tackled down at the goal line versus Houston.
The speedster can score through the air, but also on the ground. He’s earned three rushes already this postseason, after scoring three times on the ground during the regular season.
Best Super Bowl 59 Anytime TD Prop Bets
- Travis Kelce (+125)
- Jalen Hurts (-105)
- Dallas Goedert (+295)
As far as the anytime touchdown props are concerned, the conversation has to start with Kelce. Yes, he wasn’t heavily featured in the AFC Championship game plan, but he should resume his role as Mahomes’ go-to target in this matchup. KC’s implied team total in the opening Chiefs vs Eagles odds is 25.5. Oddsmakers expect 3+ touchdowns from the Chiefs, and Kelce is a buy for a pair of reasons.
For one, his playoff pedigree. Kelce has 20 career playoff touchdowns, to go along with 2,000+ receiving yards. He scored the Chiefs first TD in Super Bowl 57 against the Eagles, and the Philly defense is a favorable matchup for tight ends.
Zach Ertz torched them for 11 catches and 104 yards in the NFC Championship, after Rams tight ends combined to go 9-63-1 in the Divisional Round. Packers tight end Tucker Kraft led his team in receptions versus the Eagles in the Wild Card Round, and none of those players are in Kelce’s tier.
On the other side, Hurts is a strong buy at nearly even money for all the reasons listed above. Our final target will be Dallas Goedert, due to increased usage and a strong matchup.
Goedert has 15 postseason catches so far on 18 targets. He scored versus the Packers in the Wild Card Round, and narrowly missed out on a TD against the Commanders. Goedert is heavily involved in the screen game, something Philly executes to perfection from anywhere on the field.
The icing on the cake is that the Chiefs surrender a ton of production to tight ends. They allowed the most yards to that position this season, and the third most receptions.

As the highly anticipated Super Bowl matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs approaches, football fans and bettors alike are eagerly looking for ways to make the game even more exciting. One popular betting option that has gained traction in recent years is wagering on which player will score the first touchdown of the game, as well as which player will score a touchdown at any point during the game.
When it comes to predicting the first touchdown scorer, there are a few key factors to consider. One important factor is the offensive strategy of each team. The Eagles have a strong passing game led by quarterback Jalen Hurts, while the Chiefs have a dynamic offense with star quarterback Patrick Mahomes at the helm. Both teams have a number of talented receivers and running backs who could potentially score the first touchdown of the game.
For the Eagles, wide receiver DeVonta Smith and running back Miles Sanders are two players to keep an eye on when it comes to scoring the first touchdown. Smith, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, has shown flashes of brilliance in his rookie season and could be a big play threat in the Super Bowl. Sanders, on the other hand, is a versatile back who can make plays both on the ground and through the air.
On the Chiefs side, wide receiver Tyreek Hill and tight end Travis Kelce are two players who could potentially score the first touchdown of the game. Hill is known for his blazing speed and big-play ability, while Kelce is a reliable target for Mahomes in the red zone.
When it comes to predicting anytime touchdown scorers, it’s important to look at each team’s red zone efficiency and goal-line play calling. Both the Eagles and Chiefs have potent offenses that are capable of scoring touchdowns from anywhere on the field, so there are plenty of options to choose from when it comes to betting on anytime touchdown scorers.
Ultimately, predicting the first touchdown scorer and anytime touchdown scorers is a fun way to add some extra excitement to the Super Bowl. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of either team or just looking to make the game more interesting, placing bets on these propositions can make for an entertaining viewing experience. Just remember to gamble responsibly and enjoy the game!
