Basketball’s version of “The Game” goes on Sunday afternoon in Columbus as the #20 Michigan Wolverines (19-5, 5-3 away, 11-13 ATS) visit the archrival Ohio State Buckeyes (15-10, 10-4 home, 15-10 ATS) at Schottenstein Center for a 1:00 pm ET tipoff. The Buckeyes head into the game as 2.0 or 2.5-point home favorites, depending on the sportsbook.
Michigan vs Ohio State Predictions
- Michigan moneyline (+124) at DraftKings
- Vladislav Goldin over 15.5 points (-105) at BetMGM Odds as of Feb. 16. See SBD’s list of the best betting apps to land a bonus for Sunday’s NCAAM slate.
Since getting absolutely demolished on the road at Purdue in late January (91-64), the Wolverines appear to have turned a corner. Dusty May’s team has rattled off five straight wins – all conference games – to improve to 11-2 in Big Ten play, which puts them alone atop the B10 standings, half a game up on Michigan State. Most recently, that win streak includes a thrilling 75-73 home win over #7 Purdue, spearheaded by a 15-point, 9-rebound performance from seven-foot junior Danny Wolf.
The win improved Michigan’s perfect home record to 12-0 at home, but they’ve also proved of late that they’re more than homebodies. Their current five-game win streak includes a 70-67 win at Indiana and a 66-63 victory at Rutgers. Sunday’s game at rival Ohio State will be just the fourth time this season the Wolverines are betting underdogs and they’ve gone 2-1 straight-up in the previous three.
Ohio State, meanwhile, has its share of impressive wins – including a 73-70 road win at Purdue – but they have been horrendously inconsistent all season. They are just 5-5 straight-up in their last ten, which includes a brace of home losses (73-71 vs Oregon, 77-76 OT vs Indiana). They also lost at home to Michigan State (69-62) and Pitt (91-90 OT) at home earlier in the season.
The main reason I’m leaning to the Wolverines on the road is Ohio State’s ineffectiveness on the glass. The Buckeyes sit just 228th in the nation in offensive rebound percentage (28.7%) and 110th in defensive rebound percentage (71.4%). The Wolverines bring as much size to the court as any team in the nation, and they’re making it work for them. They sit 76th in OR% (33.7%) and absolutely decimate teams in the post with their twin seven-footers, connecting on 59.3% of their two-point attempts, which is the fifth-best clip in all of DI.

Best Available Michigan vs Ohio State Odds
The Michigan vs Ohio State spread shows a stunningly-big 1.5-point range just a couple hours from tipoff. The spread is as low as Ohio State -1.5 at FanDuel and as big as Ohio State -3.0 at Caesars. On the moneyline, FanDuel once again has the best price on the Buckeyes, listing an Ohio State win at -125. DraftKings, meanwhile, is offering the Michigan moneyline at +124, which is the longest odds on the Wolverines to win straight-up.
There is also a one-point range with respect to the game total. DraftKings is on the low end at 150.5 (O -112 | U-108), making it the best option for over bettors.
