  • We’ve made our Oilers vs Panthers prediction for Game 5 tonight
  • The Stanley Cup Final odds favor the Panthers to win their first Stanley Cup
  • Read below for Oilers vs Panthers Game 5 prediction, odds and player props

The Florida Panthers have another shot to capture their first Stanley Cup in franchise history tonight as they play host to the Edmonton Oilers in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final. The puck drops at 8:00 PM ET on ABC from Amerant Bank Arena.

We’ve made our prediction for Tuesday’s NHL game, forecasting a bounce-back performance from the Cats at home. We also have a strong lean for one side of the game total.

Here is our Oilers vs Panthers prediction tonight, along with NHL player props and betting odds.

Oilers vs Panthers Game 5 Prediction

The Panthers lead the Stanley Cup Final 3-1 after the Oilers avoided elimination with a wild 8-1 victory in Game 4. Florida won the first two games in Florida by scores of 3-0 and 4-1 before prevailing 4-3 in Oil Country in Game 3.

The Panthers will look to return to their elite defensive style of play tonight. A key part of that will be the play of goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, who was pulled last time out after giving up five goals on 16 shots. In his five previous games following a loss this postseason, Bob is 4-1 with a .914 save percentage and 1.97 GAA.

The Panthers as a team tend to bounce back well after losses, going 4-1 following a defeat in the 2024 playoffs. After losing 6-3 to the Lightning in Game 4 of the first round, the Panthers responded with a 6-1 win to clinch the series. The Panthers’ only consecutive losses came in overtime against the Rangers.

We aren’t focusing too much on the final score for Game 4, as there comes a point where the Florida players know the game is out of reach, and their effort level drops as a result. We project the Panthers come out rejuvenated and focused on home ice to win their first championship tonight.

Florida is 8-3 at Amerant Bank Arena this postseason, winning four straight games and allowing just four total goals. Bobrovsky has been the backbone of the Panthers’ run to the Cup Final, and we expect him to come through tonight.

In the first three games against Edmonton, he stopped 82 of 86 shots for a .953 save percentage. We project Bob and the Cats bounce back to win a low-scoring thriller in Game 5 tonight.

  • Game 5 Pick: Panthers ML (-145)

Oilers vs Panthers Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Oilers +1.5 (-210) +120 Over 5.5 (-105)
Panthers -1.5 (+170) -145 Under 5.5 (-115)

The Stanley Cup Final odds for Game 5 show Florida as -145 favorites to close out the series on home ice. This means that a $145 bet on Florida would win $100 if they win. The implied probability of a Florida victory tonight is 57.45%.

The Oilers come back as the +120 underdogs in this game. A $100 bet on Edmonton would win $120 if they pull off the upset. The Oilers have an implied probability of 45.45% based on the betting odds. They return to underdog status after being favored in both home games.

The total is set at 5.5 goals. Over bettors need at least 6 total goals to cash their tickets. Under bettors are hoping for 5 goals or fewer. The odds are close to even both ways, with a slight lean to the Under at -115.

We are giving out the Panthers as our official play tonight, but we are also leaning towards the Under. The Under is 5-2 in the Panthers’ last 7 games overall and 10-3 in their last 13. Florida doesn’t want to get into a shootout with the Oilers after Edmonton’s offensive outburst last game. Look for them to lock things down tonight.

Oilers vs Panthers Player Props

In the Stanley Cup Final player props, Zach Hyman has the best odds to score for the fifth straight game (+115). However, his odds continue to lengthen as he’s failed to get on the scoresheet in the Final. He opened the series with +100 odds to find twine in Game 1.

Player Anytime Goalscorer Shots on Goal (O/U) Points (O/U)
Zach Hyman +115 3.5 (+135o/-175u) 0.5 (-160o/+124u)
Sam Reinhart +135 2.5 (-145o/+114u) 0.5 (-160o/+124u)
Connor McDavid +135 3.5 (-110o/-120u) 1.5 (-105o/-125u)
Leon Draisaitl +155 2.5 (-135o/+105u) 0.5 (-220o/+170u)
Carter Verhaeghe +160 2.5 (-160o/+124u) 0.5 (-154o/+120u)
Matthew Tkachuk +185 2.5 (-166o/+130u) 0.5 (-154o/+120u)
Aleksander Barkov +220 2.5 (+105o/-135u) 0.5 (-180o/+140u)
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins +265 1.5 (-154o/+120u) 0.5 (-140o/+110u)
Sam Bennett +265 2.5 (+110o/-140u) 0.5 (+110o/-140u)
Vladimir Tarasenko +290 1.5 (-166o/+130u) 0.5 (+140o/-180u)

When it comes to NHL player props tonight, we’re targeting a player who has publicly called himself out to the media entering this game. Matthew Tkachuk hasn’t been happy with his recent play, telling reporters, “We have a chance to capture the biggest goal of our lives tonight, so we’re going to go do that.”

Tkachuk’s words don’t automatically guarantee a Florida win, but we like the odds he has a strong individual performance tonight. The veteran only has one assist in the series so far, and it’s hard to imagine the Cats winning their first Cup without Tkachuk playing an important role in the final series.

He’s tied for the team lead with 16 shot attempts at 5-on-5 in the Final, firing 11 of those on target. Considering his ability to deliver in the clutch, such as in last season’s Eastern Conference Final, take the over on Tkachuk’s shots on goal prop, plus bet him as an anytime scorer.

EDM-FLA Props:

  • Matthew Tkachuk Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-166)
  • Matthew Tkachuk Anytime Goal (+185)

The Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers are set to face off in Game 5 of their playoff series on June 18th, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. With the series tied at 2-2, both teams will be looking to gain the upper hand and take control of the series.

The Oilers come into this game with a potent offense led by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, who have been lighting up the scoreboard all season long. They will be looking to continue their offensive onslaught and put pressure on the Panthers’ defense.

On the other hand, the Panthers have been getting solid goaltending from Sergei Bobrovsky, who has been a brick wall in net for them all series long. They will be looking to rely on his stellar play to shut down the Oilers’ high-powered offense and give their own offense a chance to shine.

In terms of predictions, this game is shaping up to be a close one. Both teams have shown that they are evenly matched and capable of winning on any given night. However, the Oilers may have a slight edge due to their offensive firepower and the fact that they will be playing in front of their home crowd.

As for the odds, the Oilers are currently slight favorites to win Game 5, with most sportsbooks giving them a slight edge over the Panthers. However, anything can happen in the playoffs, so it’s important to take these odds with a grain of salt.

When it comes to player prop picks, keep an eye on Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl for the Oilers. Both players have been dominant all season long and will be looking to continue their strong play in Game 5. For the Panthers, look out for Aleksander Barkov and Jonathan Huberdeau, who have been leading the way for their team offensively.

Overall, Game 5 between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers is shaping up to be a thrilling matchup with plenty of excitement and drama. Make sure to tune in on June 18th to see which team comes out on top in this crucial game.
