North Texas (5-4, 4-5 ATS) tries to snap a three-game losing streak when it faces rival UT-San Antonio (4-5, 3-6 ATS) in the Alamodome. The Roadrunners had a bye week last weekend after taking down then No. 25 Memphis.
North Texas fell to No. 16 Army 14-3 last week. The Black Knights controlled the ball for almost 42 minutes, but North Texas also came up empty on three red zone trips.
The Mean Green haven’t won in San Antonio since 2018. They feature the AAC’s top passing attack led by quarterback Chandler Morris.

North Texas is anywhere from a one to 1.5-point favorite at our favorite sportsbooks. The Mean Green have been underdogs in their last three games and lost all three straight up.
UTSA is 4-0 at home and 15-1 in their last 16 home games. The fun number here is the total of 72.5 listed everywhere. That’s a huge number. Six of the nine UNT games this season have gone over that total. UTSA is 6-3 over/under this season.
The best moneyline bet on North Texas is listed at Caesars at -110. You can get UTSA +100 at BetMGM, but this game is basically considered a pick’em. These two schools have become rivals over the last decade. Football is big in Texas you know.
“Any time you’re playing an in-state team that’s been as good as they’ve been for the last five years, it’s different,” said North Texas coach Jeff Morris this week. “Any time you can go down the road on I-35 and play a team like this that you’re recruiting against, it is fun for our kids to play. The atmosphere in that place is really unique, too.”

Meep, Meep
UTSA quarterback Owen McCown is the answer to a couple good trivia questions. Yes, he’s the son of Josh McCown, who played in the NFL for 17 years mostly holding a clipboard. But Owen is also one of the quarterbacks who was at Colorado before Primetime took over and he transferred out. He played four games with the Buffs.
Owen is a classic pocket passer who has thrown for 2,364 yards and 20 scores, but offense has not been UTSA’s problem this season. The defense is ninth in the American in points allowed and 11th against the pass. That’s bad, because the Mean Green can sling it.
OH MY GOODNESS HE DID IT AGAIN!!

A Real Texas Gunslinger
Chandler Morris, no relation to his head coach, or Zach Morris from Saved by the Bell, has made nine prior starts in his UNT career and is at 3,087 yards this season, which already ranks seventh on the school’s single-season list. North Texas has the best passing attack in the AAC by far, with Morris accounting for 343 a game.
Mean Green WR DT Sheffield leads the AAC with 721 receiving and 10 touchdowns.
But defense has been the issue for North Texas lately too. They gave up 37 in a win over FAU, 52 to a loss to Memphis, and 45 in a loss to Tulane.
72.5 points is the total, maybe we know why.
UTSA vs North Texas Prediction
- UTSA +1.5 at FanDuel
- Under 72.5 at FanDuel
This is one of those times we want to believe our eyes more than the sportsbooks. UNT is a slight favorite, but lost three in a row. Meanwhile, this is basically the swing game for UTSA to make a bowl game. After this week, they play woeful Temple, so they need this one to get to six wins.
UTSA is extremely good at home. The crowd will be into it, and they can stop the North Texas attack a few times, while the UNT defense is struggling. We’re also not believing the over. It’s just too many points. Short weeks mean poor offensive execution.

The North Texas Mean Green will face off against the UTSA Roadrunners in a highly anticipated college football matchup on Friday, November 15th. Both teams are coming off of tough losses and will be looking to bounce back with a win in this game.
The Mean Green currently have a record of 4-5, while the Roadrunners are sitting at 3-6. Despite their records, both teams have shown flashes of potential throughout the season and have the ability to put up points on the scoreboard.
In terms of predictions, this game is shaping up to be a close one. North Texas has a slight edge in terms of offensive firepower, averaging 29.8 points per game compared to UTSA’s 18.1 points per game. However, the Roadrunners have a stronger defense, allowing just 27.1 points per game compared to the Mean Green’s 34.7 points per game.
When it comes to the odds, North Texas is currently favored to win by 3.5 points. This means that if you were to bet on the Mean Green, they would need to win by at least 4 points in order for you to win your bet. On the other hand, if you were to bet on UTSA, they could either win the game outright or lose by less than 4 points for you to win your bet.
As for the best bets for this game, it may be wise to consider betting on the underdog in this matchup. UTSA has shown that they are capable of pulling off upsets this season, and with their strong defense, they could potentially keep this game close or even come out on top.
Overall, this game has the potential to be a thrilling and competitive matchup between two evenly matched teams. Whether you’re a fan of the Mean Green or the Roadrunners, this game is sure to provide plenty of excitement and drama on Friday night.
