Predictions for MLB Home Runs on Dinger Tuesday (April 1)

  • The first Dinger Tuesday of the 2025 MLB season is upon us
  • Multiple sportsbooks are offering home run promotions for today’s games
  • Keep reading to see the three players I am betting on to hit a home run on April 1 and how I am using the bonuses

We have made it to the first Dinger Tuesday of the MLB season, and I have three home run bets that I love. Sportsbooks are offering bonuses for home run props today to give us even more bang for our buck.

FanDuel is offering a 50% profit boost to use on any player to hit a home run today, and DraftKings is offering a no sweat home run bet where you get a bonus bet back if your player does not hit a home run today.

See below for my three home run picks for tonight’s games

1. Paul Goldschmidt, Yankees (+600 at DraftKings)

The Yankees have been mashing to start the season, so on the first Dinger Tuesday of the year, I have to look at someone in this lineup. Plenty of Yankees are using the new torpedo bat, and they have produced 15 home runs in three games played. After scoring four runs on Opening Day, New York scored 12 runs and then 20 before having the day off yesterday.

Goldschmidt is one of the players in this lineup using the torpedo bat, and he knows Corbin Burnes very well from his time in St. Louis when Burnes was on the Brewers. In 31 at-bats vs Burnes, Goldy has hit .323 with a home run and a double.

He has had a strong start with the Yankees as Goldschmidt is hitting .417 and already has a home run on the year. The Yankees are still at home today, so I like Goldy to go yard vs Burnes.

At +600 odds, we are getting a great value on Goldschmidt, so I am using my no-sweat home run bet at DraftKings on him. I love the matchup, and even if he somehow does not hit a home run today, I get a bonus bet back.

    2. Nolan Arenado, Cardinals (+1320 at FanDuel with 50% Boost)

Nolan Arenado is another batter who is going against a familiar foe. Kyle Hendricks is on the Angels after being a Cub for 11 years, and Arenado has had success against him. Arenado has homered off Hendricks three times in his career on 31 at-bats.

Even without the boost, Arenado is +870 to hit a home run at FanDuel, but by using FanDuel’s Dinger Tuesday 50% profit boost, Arenado is now +1320 to hit a home run.

Hendricks is making his first start of the season, and if this is anything like last year, he will not have a great first outing. Last season, Hendricks allowed two home runs in his first start and gave up eight total in his first five starts.

He also struggles much more on the road. In 2024, Hendricks had a 7.08 ERA away from home, and 14 of his 21 home runs allowed were on the road.

Arenado hit a home run on Opening Day and is batting .400 to start the 2025 season. This matchup with Hendricks gives him a great chance to hit his second homer of the year.

    3. James Wood, Nationals (+700 at DraftKings)

Jose Berrios struggled mightily in his first start of the year. In five innings pitched vs the Orioles on Opening Day, Berrios gave up three home runs.

Out of all the Nationals players to choose from to go yard today, I like James Wood the best. He is normally batting second in Washington’s lineup, so he will have plenty of at-bats tonight.

Wood hit a home run yesterday and has two two-hit games so far this season. Wood’s exit velocity, hard hit rate, and barrel percentage have been great in his games played this season.

He is one of the top prospects in the game, and he is playing like it, so I am betting on him today against a struggling Jose Berrios and a not-so-great Toronto bullpen.

As the MLB season kicks off, fans and analysts alike are eagerly anticipating Dinger Tuesday on April 1st. This day has become known for an abundance of home runs, with players across the league looking to start the season off with a bang.

One player to keep an eye on is Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels. Trout is known for his power at the plate and is always a threat to hit a home run. With the Angels facing off against the Oakland Athletics on Dinger Tuesday, Trout could easily add to his impressive career home run total.

Another player to watch is Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees. Judge has quickly become one of the most feared hitters in the league, and his towering home runs have become a trademark of his game. The Yankees will be facing the Toronto Blue Jays on Dinger Tuesday, and Judge will be looking to make a statement early in the season.

In addition to individual players, there are also several teams that are known for their power hitting. The Minnesota Twins, for example, set a new MLB record for home runs in a season in 2019. With sluggers like Nelson Cruz and Miguel Sano in their lineup, the Twins will be a team to watch on Dinger Tuesday.

Overall, Dinger Tuesday is shaping up to be an exciting day for baseball fans. With so many talented hitters taking the field, there is sure to be plenty of home runs to go around. Whether you’re a fan of a specific team or just love watching the long ball, Dinger Tuesday is a day that you won’t want to miss.
