Predictions and Odds for the Memphis Grizzlies vs Utah Jazz Summer League Game on July 8th
Zach Edey wrestles for a loose ball with Donovan Clingan during the NCAA Tournament men's championship game. Both Edey and Clingan were lottery picks in the 2024 NBA Draft.

  • The Utah Jazz take on the Memphis Grizzlies in NBA Summer League Utah action on Monday night in Salt Lake City.
  • The Salt Lake City Summer League will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday ahead of the start of the Las Vegas Summer League on Friday.
  • Check out the section below to see our top picks for Monday night’s Grizzlies-Jazz matchup.

The Salt Lake City Summer League begins on Monday night in Utah. The late game features the Utah Jazz taking on the Memphis Grizzlies. Though the Jazz are the home team, you’d better believe most eyes will be on Memphis rookie big man Zach Edey, who the Grizzlies took with the No. 9 overall pick in last month’s NBA Draft. Tune in to ESPN at 9 p.m. ET on Monday night to check out Edey’s first NBA action.

Memphis Grizzlies vs Utah Jazz Summer League Picks

  • Jazz -5.5 (-110)
  • Zach Edey 15+ points (+200)

All aboard the Zach Edey hype train! I think the former Purdue star will get plenty of minutes for the Grizzlies tonight to show what he can do. Conversely, I don’t expect Utah big man Walker Kessler to be out there all that much. Kessler, perhaps the 1 man on the Utah roster who could slow Edey down, has already proven he can be an impact player at the NBA level. Thus, the Jazz shouldn’t risk his health by playing him too much this summer.

I like Edey to score 15+ points tonight, and the fact that I can get that at +200 odds over at BetMGM only sweetens the deal.

But for the entire game, that Jazz roster is loaded. Keyonte George, Walker Kessler, Taylor Hendricks, Kyle Filipowski, Isaiah Collier, Kenneth Lofton Jr., Brice Sensabaugh… this is a very deep, very talented team. They’ll be favored to win the Utah Summer League, as they should be. I like them to win by 6+ points tonight in their home city.

Memphis Grizzlies vs Utah Jazz Summer League Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Memphis Grizzlies +5.5 (-110) +185 O 184.5 (-110)
Utah Jazz -5.5 (-110) -225 U 184.5 (-110)

The hometown Jazz are favored to win this game. The spread is -5.5 in favor of Utah, with both sides featuring even -110 odds. The Jazz are -225 on the moneyline, compared to +185 for the upset-minded Grizzlies. The over/under might look a little low for an NBA game, as it is set at 184.5 points, with -110 odds on both sides. But keep in mind Summer League games are only 40 minutes long instead of 48 minutes like regular-season NBA games.

Memphis Grizzlies vs Utah Jazz Summer League Rosters

Obviously Edey highlights the Grizzlies’ Utah Summer League roster, but there’s plenty of intriguing talent on both sides in this Monday night matchup.

Here’s a look at the Grizzlies’ roster for the Salt Lake City competition:

GG Jackson II was a key contributor as a rookie for the Memphis squad during the 2023-24 season, growing into a larger role as the Grizzlies’ injury list got longer and longer. He put up some big numbers against legitimate NBA competition, so it’s possible he could absolutely dominate the Summer League.

Scotty Pippen Jr. is another interesting addition to Memphis’s roster. He signed a two-way contract with the Grizzlies back in January and is going to try to earn a spot on the NBA squad again this coming season.

For the Utah Jazz, Keyonte George and Walker Kessler were impactful players for the Jazz last year. They’ll look to get even more experience in the Utah Summer League:

Other notable players on the Jazz roster include Max Abmas, Armando Bacot, Isaiah Collier and Kyle Filipowski, all of whom are rookies. Which players from that group will shine? We’ll see starting tonight.

Tune in to ESPN at 9 p.m. ET on Monday night to watch the Jazz and Grizzlies get the Utah Summer League started in style.
