- The Texas A&M Aggies can punch their ticket to the Championship Series Wednesday night against the Florida Gators, which has become the surprise of the NCAA Tournament.
- The Gators have been hard at work already Wednesday, downing No. 2 Kentucky in dominant fashion to advance to Wednesday night’s game. The Gators need to beat Texas A&M twice to advance to the championship series.

Texas A&M, the nation’s No. 3 seed, is just one win away from a trip to the Championship Series for the first time in school history. The Gators are looking to make it back to the Championship series after falling to Paul Skenes and the LSU Tigers last season.
The Aggies won their first 2 games in Omaha, downing Florida 3-2 and Kentucky 5-1 on Monday to earn a day of rest. Florida, meanwhile, downed NC State on Sunday before dispatching Kentucky early Wednesday 15-4. They now have to turn around and face the No. 3 Aggies on the brink of elimination, needing a pair of wins to make it back to the Championship series.

Texas A&M vs Florida Odds
Team | Runline | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Texas A&M Aggies | -1.5, +120 | -115 | O 12, -125 |
Florida Gators | +1.5, -154 | -115 | U 12, -105 |
As expected, the Aggies opened as runline favorites (+120), though the Gators +1.5 is the most popular pick at -154. Both teams sit at -115 on the moneyline.
With both these teams bringing a high octane offense to the table, the over/under has been set at 12, and the over is the fairly significant favorite to start out at -125 on DraftKings. Last matchup combined for just 5 runs between the pair.
How did the Aggies and Gators get here?
Texas A&M was supposed to be here. Florida was not.
The Gators are the only team to advance to Omaha this season as a non-national seed, but they haven’t looked anything like an underdog so far. The Gators fell to Texas A&M in their first game of the CWS but have since rattled off wins over No. 10 NC State and No. 2 Kentucky, with their win over Kentucky on Wednesday being a blowout.
And the Gators very nearly took Game 1 over the Aggies, losing 3-2 after falling behind 3-0 early.
Many online have likened the Gators to 2022 Ole Miss, which also advanced to Omaha as a non-national seed before winning the whole thing. Can the Gators overcome the Aggies’ superior offensive firepower and a bullpen that is among the best in college baseball? Perhaps more importantly, can they do it on the brink of exhaustion?
Texas A&M vs. Florida Prediction
Florida just handled Kentucky in fairly convincing fashion and has been quite the surprise this tournament, but Texas A&M is a different animal. The Aggies are the best offensive team in the SEC not named Tennessee, and they’ll have the bullpen advantage even without Florida having to play 2 games in a single day (No. 4 Team ERA in the country, No. 1 in SEC).
That’s ultimately what this comes down to. It’s a tall ask for Florida to down the No. 2 and No. 3 teams in the country in an 8-hour span.
Here’s the catch: Any sports fan would advise you to not bet against these Gators. Their offense has shifted into another gear (Jac Caglianone just set Florida’s all-time HR record) and, pardon teh cliche here, they have nothing to lose.
Jac Caglianone now STANDS ALONE as Florida’s all-time career leader in home runs.

For the reasons listed above, Florida +1.5 is a strong play for tonight’s matchup. I refuse to believe these Gators will go away quietly, and we could be in for another fun one.
