The Florida Panthers are one victory away from advancing to the Stanley Cup Final for the second straight season. Oddsmakers are bullish on the Cats getting the job done, pricing Florida as heavy home favorites over the New York Rangers in Game 6 on Saturday, June 1 at Amerant Bank Arena.

The Rangers face a must-win situation to keep their season alive and are priced as road underdogs. We’ve made our Rangers vs Panthers Game 6 prediction to help you place an educated wager tonight. The puck drops at 8:00 pm ET from Sunrise on ABC and ESPN.

Here is our analysis for Game 6, including prediction, odds and player props.

New York Rangers vs Florida Panthers Game 6 Prediction

Our Panthers vs Rangers prediction weighs the advanced metrics in this series and New York’s record in previous elimination games.

My Best Bets

It isn’t hard to determine which of these teams has been more superior through five games. The Panthers have generated 57% of the expected goals, while the Rangers have generated just 43% of them. High-danger chances are also 77-51 in favor of the Cats.

However, the reason this series is close is due to the play of NYR goalie Igor Shesterkin, who owns a stellar .927 save percentage this postseason. He’s outdueled Sergei Bobrovsky, who has been inconsistent with a . However, Bob was sharp in Game 5, stopping 25 of 27 shots.

A key storyline in this series is the Rangers’ power-play struggles as they are just 1-for-14 on the man advantage after finishing with the second-best power play in the regular season. Superstars Mika Zibanejad and Artemi Panarin have taken a combined 25 shots on goal but are yet to score in the ECF.

This series is reminiscent of the 2022 Eastern Conference Final in which the Rangers held home-ice advantage but were eliminated in six games. Of course, Rangers fans will point to the 1994 Conference Final in which the team was down 3-2 and won two straight elimination games to advance to the Cup Final.

So which scenario plays out on Saturday? The Rangers have a pretty strong track record in elimination games over the past five years, posting a 5-3 record when facing elimination since 2020. However, their most recent elimination game was an ugly 4-0 loss to New Jersey last postseason.

The Panthers, meanwhile, are 6-3 in closeout games over the past three seasons. We don’t think they take their foot off the gas with the chance to deliver the knockout punch. Paul Maurice’s veteran team knows anything can happen in a potential Game 7 at the raucous MSG.

With Bobrovsky allowing just four goals in his last two starts, the Rangers’ star players struggling and Florida dominating possession, the Cats are the play in the Saturday NHL Odds.

NYR vs FLA Game 6 Pick:

  • Panthers Moneyline (-170)

Rangers vs Panthers Game 6 Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
NY Rangers +1.5 (-185) +142 Over 5.5 (+114)
FLA Panthers -1.5 (+154) -170 Under 5.5 (-135)

The oddsmakers favor the Panthers on their home ice in Game 6. Florida is a heavy -170 moneyline favorite at DraftKings, which is the team’s heaviest price of the series. Florida closed as a -160 favorite in their last home game but were as long as -120 in Game 5 at MSG.

Florida’s -170 price means you have to wager $170 just to win $100. A $100 bet on the Rangers at +142 would return $142 if it hits. There is also the option of Florida’s 60-minute line at -105, however, it’s best to tread lightly considering three of the games in the series have required overtime.

The over/under for Game 6 is set at 5.5 on DraftKings, which is in line with the previous totals for this game. The only game in this series to actually produce more than 5.5 goals was New York’s wild 5-4 overtime win over the Cats in Game 3 at Amtrak Arena.

Given the heavy juice on the Panthers to win, we’ll likely end up putting the “under” of 5.5 and the Cats moneyline into a same-game parlay. The under is 5-0 in Florida’s last five games following a win, while also hitting in nine of the Rangers’ last 10 conference final games, primarily due to Shesterkin’s play.
