Player Prop Bets for Florida vs Houston Matchup

  • Player Props are live for tonight’s National Championship Game between Florida and Houston
  • Will Richard is averaging 7 field goal attempts and 4 free throws per game during March Madness
  • See my Florida vs Houston Player Props to Bet for the National Championship Game, below

March Madness culminates tonight with a heavyweight tilt between 1-seeds Florida and Houston. The Gators are looking for their first National Championship since back-to-back runs in 2006 and 2007, while the Cougars are chasing their inaugural title. Action tips off at 8:50pm ET at the Alamodome, in San Antonio, with CBS providing the coverage.

The betting board is littered with markets to wager on tonight, but our focus will be on player props. I’ve compiled my two favorite Florida/Houston player props to bet, below, plus the most up-to-date odds currently available.

Florida vs Houston Player Props

Florida’s Walter Clayton Jr. boasts the highest points prop at 19.5, followed by Houston’s LJ Cryer at 16.5. Most people believe that if Florida is going to win this game, they’ll need another monster performance from Clayton Jr. He’s posted 30 and 34 points in back-to-back outings, so you could consider alt lines for a pretty juicy pay day. As far as my betting card goes, I’m bypassing Clayton Jr. and Cryer, and focusing on the ancillary scoring options for each team.

Florida vs Houston Player Prop #1: Will Richard Over 11.5 Points

My first Florida vs Houston player prop bet is Will Richard over 11.5 points. Richard has underwhelmed in consecutive outings, but it hasn’t been for a lack of opportunity. The senior guard is averaging 7 field goal attempts and 4 free throws per game during the NCAA Tournament. He’s taking 4+ threes per game, it’s just the shots haven’t been falling.

You might think that makes him a fade tonight, but there’s a strong chance we see a major increase in shot volume. Houston boasts the best defense in the country and have been neutralizing opposing guards all tournament. It’s been their calling card all year, and the reason they’re still alive in the March Madness Championship odds. The Cougars D just held Duke to 67 points and should make Clayton Jr.’s job much more challenging. The extra defensive attention he gets should force the ball out of his hands and into Richard’s.

Richard is a career 35% three-point shooter, and is making 84% of his free throws this season. His points over/under has fallen ahead of three straight contests, and it’s finally time to buy now that it’s sitting at 11.5.

  • Will Richard Over 11.5 Points (-105 at FanDuel)

Florida vs Houston Player Prop #2: J’Wan Roberts Under 12.5 Points

My next bet is under 12.5 points for Houston big man J’Wan Roberts. The Senior has struggled to score all tournament, and is at a maor disadvantage inside against the Gators bigs. Roberts stands 6’8″, which is smaller than all four of Florida’s primary bigs. He’s going to have a tough time getting his shot off against the length of Alex Condon and company, who are fresh off shutting down Player of the Year candidate Johni Broome.

The Cougars defense is getting all the buzz ahead of this matchup, but don’t overlook the Gators in their own end. This team ranks top-22 at defending both inside and outside of the arc, and is one of the premier rebounding teams. That last factor is huge since Roberts won’t be living on the glass and collecting easy put backs. Florida ranks third nationally in total rebounding, and seventh on defense.

Another reason to be pessimistic on Roberts, is his lack of freebies. He averages less than two free throws per game. That means he’s going to have to rely on his shot to fall, something that I don’t think is likely given the Gators defensive talent.

Player prop bets are a popular form of betting in sports, allowing bettors to wager on specific outcomes involving individual players rather than the overall outcome of a game. In the upcoming matchup between the Florida Gators and the Houston Cougars, there are several player prop bets worth considering.

One player to keep an eye on in this matchup is Florida’s star quarterback, Kyle Trask. Trask has been putting up impressive numbers all season, and he could be a good bet to throw for over 300 yards against Houston’s defense. Another prop bet to consider for Trask is whether he will throw for multiple touchdowns in the game.

On the other side of the ball, Houston’s quarterback Clayton Tune could also be a player to watch. Tune has shown flashes of brilliance this season and could be a good bet to throw for over 250 yards against Florida’s defense. Additionally, Tune could be a good bet to rush for a touchdown in the game.

When it comes to the running game, Florida’s running back Dameon Pierce could be a player to consider for prop bets. Pierce has been a consistent performer for the Gators this season and could be a good bet to rush for over 100 yards against Houston’s defense. Another prop bet to consider for Pierce is whether he will score a rushing touchdown in the game.

Overall, player prop bets can add an extra layer of excitement to the Florida vs Houston matchup. By focusing on individual player performances, bettors can find new ways to engage with the game and potentially win big. As always, it’s important to do your research and consider all factors before placing any bets. Good luck!
