Musburger Media once again finds itself as the sole owner of VSiN.

The media company announced this afternoon that it had reacquired VSiN, The Sports Betting Network, from DraftKings. DraftKings purchased VSiN from Musburger Media in 2021 for $70 million.

Terms of this deal were not included in the announcement. Longtime announcer Brent Musburger founded VSiN in 2017.

Musburger Media Back in Charge

In a press release announcing the deal, it was revealed that original VSiN founders Brian Musburger and Bill Adee, who were part of the team that previously launched and led the multi-platform broadcast and content company, will again lead the network.

“While a lot has changed in the sports betting industry over the past three-and-a-half years, our original vision for VSiN still holds and we are committed to delivering the most credible, independent information and analysis sports bettors can find anywhere,” Musburger said in the announcement.

“We truly appreciate the work we’ve done with DraftKings and look forward to continuing to collaborate on future projects. Bill and I couldn’t be more excited about leading VSiN into the future and cementing our position as a trusted authority in sports betting.”

VSiN produces more than 18 hours of unique sports betting content per day from its newsroom studio at the sportsbook of the Circa Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

“DraftKings continues to optimize its investments in content and media to align with the most critical areas and needs of our business strategy, objectives, and goals,” said Stephanie Sherman, Chief Marketing Officer, DraftKings. “We want to thank Brian, Bill, and the entire team at VSiN for a great relationship, and we look forward to continuing to advertise on the network.”

DraftKings will not leaving the space entirely, as it will still utilize its DraftKings Network to publish original sports and sports betting content.

So What Happened?

DraftKings announced the acquisition of VSiN in March 2021. Terms of the deal ended up being $70 million to Musburger Media.

At the time, DraftKings Co-Founder and CEO Jason Robins lauded the deal as a win for the company.

“VSiN creates authentic and credible content that resonates with sports bettors at every level, whether they’re experienced or new to sports betting,” Robins said. “In addition to its brand equity among sports bettors and engaging talent roster, VSiN also has an established infrastructure that DraftKings can immediately help expand, in the hopes of adding value to consumers who are looking to become more knowledgeable about sports betting.”

Terms of the deal were not included in the announcement. A request for additional details on the decision to sell VSiN back to Musburger Media were not provided to Sports Betting Dime by DraftKings.
