Two teams with eyes on the ultimate prize, the 2025 Stanley Cup, square off with the regular season winding down to a close. The Avalanche are comfortably in a playoff spot, but their counterparts from Calgary are seven points back of the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

The Calgary Flames (34-26-12, 80 points, 5th in Pacific) visit the Colorado Avalanche (45-26-3, 93 points, 3rd in Central) at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado. Online sportsbooks are bullish on the Avalanche in the NHL odds, installing them as favorites.

Puck drop is scheduled for 8:30pm ET, with ESPN+ & Amazon Prime providing the broadcast coverage in the United States and Canada.

Flames vs Avalanche Prediction

  • Avalanche Puck Line +110 on DraftKings

Before a 2-1 home defeat by the Blues on Saturday, the Avalanche had been dynamite on home ice, winning eleven straight, ten of which were by at least two goals. The Avs have gone 12-2-1 in their last 15 overall contests.

Contrast to the Flames, who have dropped six of their last ten away from home, and they’ve not won their last two contests.

This matchup has been one-sided in recent years, with Colorado coming out victorious in nine of ten matchups. In seven of those nine instances, the Avs won by two or more goals.

Surprisingly, the Flames are in a postseason race, something most prognosticators didn’t see coming this season. They’re seven back of the Blues for the final Wild Card spot, though they do have three critical games in hand on them.

On the campaign, Colorado has had no troubles scoring, ranked sixth in goals per game (3.34), compared to Calgary’s 30th-ranked unit (2.60). The home squad also has the edge in goals allowed per outing (2.78 versus 2.94), and have better power play and penalty kill units.

Calgary Flames vs Colorado Avalanche Odds

The Flames vs Avalanche odds show a total of 5.5 goals, with -120 odds to the over 5.5 goal total. Colorado is listed as a -250 moneyline favorite, and are +110 to cover the puck line of 1.5 goals.

A significant injury that could make things even harder for the Flames to pull off the upset is Connor Zary’s absence with a lower-body injury. He’s had a solid campaign with 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points, and he’s expected to be out week-to-week after initially missing Saturday’s tilt against the Oilers.

The Avs also have injury woes, with blueliner Erik Johnson and forward Joel Kiviranta also not lacing them up this past Saturday.

The -250 odds on the moneyline represents a win probability of 71.43% for Colorado. Our SBD model believes it’ll be close, with itshaping up to be a 3.53-3.06 battle, won by the Avalanche, according to the formula.

Given how dominant Colorado has been on home ice of late, and their mastery of the Flames, I like them to come out on top on the Puck Line of +110, which will give a bit more added value to the wager.

On the other side, the Avalanche are sitting comfortably in second place in the Central Division with a record of 31-8-3. They have been one of the top teams in the league this season, boasting a high-powered offense led by Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen. When it comes to Monday night’s matchup, the odds are fairly even between the two teams. The Flames have a slight edge due to their recent hot streak, but the Avalanche are always a tough team to beat at home. In terms of a prediction, it’s tough to say who will come out on top in this matchup. Both teams have been playing well and have the talent to win on any given night. However, if I had to make a pick, I would lean towards the Flames pulling off a close victory in what should be a high-scoring affair.

Overall, Monday night’s game between the Flames and Avalanche is sure to be an exciting matchup between two top teams in the league. Fans can expect a fast-paced and competitive game with plenty of scoring chances on both sides. Be sure to tune in to see which team comes out on top in this thrilling showdown.
