  • The Colorado Rockies (27-53) host the Milwaukee Brewers (48-33) on Monday night to start a 4-game series. The teams are going in opposite directions, with Milwaukee leading the NL Central and the Rockies in last place in the NL West.
  • Austin Gomber (1-5, 4.63 ERA) gets the start for Colorado, while Milwaukee will counter with Rob Zastryzny (0-0, 0.00 ERA).
  • Check out the section below for our top picks from tonight’s MLB action.

It’s a slow night around Major League Baseball, with only 3 games on the slate for Monday. One was an afternoon matchup between the Astros and Blue Jays. The Rockies hosting the Brewers is the only late game on the schedule. Tune in to the MLB Network at 8:40 p.m. ET to watch this showdown between two teams on opposite ends of the standings in the National League.

Milwaukee Brewers vs Colorado Rockies Picks

  • Over 11.5 runs (-110)
  • Christian Yelich over 2.5 hits+runs+RBI (-115)

It’s not often you see a run total that high. Normally they’re between 7.5 runs and 9.5 runs. Well, not tonight. Not at Coors Field. The over/under is set at 11.5 runs, and I still like the over. Rob Zastryzny is making his first start of 2024. Austin Gomber has been far from an effective pitcher recently. This could be an incredibly high-scoring game. I’m taking the over and not looking back.

As for my second pick, I think Christian Yelich will have a big night for Milwaukee against Gomber, who doesn’t make many people swing and miss. Yelich is coming off a big Sunday performance against the Cubs in which he posted 5 hits+runs+RBI, mashing a home run, going 2-for-4, driving in 2 runs and scoring another. Yelich is only 2-for-7 against Gomber in his career, but he hasn’t faced him very often at Coors Field.

You can get -110 odds on the over at bet365. Yelich to post 3+ hits+runs+RBI sports -115 odds. I like both those picks for tonight’s game, as I expect both squads to put up plenty of offense.

Milwaukee Brewers vs Colorado Rockies Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Milwaukee Brewers -1.5 (-105) -150 O 11.5 (-110)

This is expected to be a pretty even matchup. When you combine Gomber’s struggles with Zastryzny making his first start, it’s understandable. The moneyline is -150 in favor of the Brewers. The Rockies sport +125 moneyline odds. If you think the Brewers will win by 2+ runs, you can snag -105 odds. As mentioned above, I like the over for 11.5 runs scored. That’s -110 on bet365.

Milwaukee Brewers vs Colorado Rockies Starting Pitchers

Rob Zastryzny VS Austin Gomber
Record 1-5
ERA 4.63
SO% 16.3%

Gomber has struggled this year. His ERA isn’t atrocious, but it’s not great. His record is more of a product of the Rockies having one of the worst overall teams in baseball. Meanwhile, Zastryzny is making his first start of the season, having just been recalled from the minors.

Basically, this is not going to be an elite pitcher’s duel. If it does turn into a low-scoring game (which I don’t think it will), it’ll be because of hitters having off nights and making mistakes.

Don’t expect much from either of these pitchers and you won’t be disappointed. But don’t expect Gomber to be pulled unless he’s really struggling, as the Rockies’ bullpen isn’t much to write home about, either.

So pick the over, even though it’s a really high one, and take Yelich to dominate. Then sit back and enjoy the game at 8:40 p.m. ET over on the MLB Network as part of a small slate of Monday night games.

The Milwaukee Brewers will face off against the Colorado Rockies on July 1 in what is sure to be an exciting matchup. Both teams have been playing well this season, making this game a must-watch for baseball fans.

When it comes to expert picks and predictions for this game, it’s important to consider the strengths and weaknesses of each team. The Brewers have a strong pitching staff led by ace Brandon Woodruff, while the Rockies have a potent offense with players like Trevor Story and Charlie Blackmon.

In terms of top player props to consider, one player to keep an eye on is Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich. Yelich has been on a tear recently, hitting .300 with 15 home runs and 45 RBIs so far this season. He could be a good pick for a home run prop or to have a multi-hit game against the Rockies.

On the Rockies side, look out for Trevor Story. The shortstop has been one of the team’s best hitters this season, with a .280 batting average and 12 home runs. He could be a solid choice for a prop bet on hits or RBIs in this game.

Overall, this matchup between the Brewers and Rockies is shaping up to be a close one. Both teams have talent on both sides of the ball, so it could come down to which team executes better on the day. Keep an eye on Yelich and Story as potential top players to watch in this game, and consider their player props when making your predictions.
