- See the underdogs we think can pull off upsets in Week 17 below
Week 17 got an early start on Wednesday and we have already seen three games played heading into Saturday. However, none of them have been very entertaining to this point. At the very least, here’s to hoping we can make some money off the remaining 13 games spread across Saturday, Sunday, and Monday of Week 17. My SBD formula and I have teamed up to offer the underdogs we feel can win outright, making them valuable moneyline picks.
I went 0-2 on my upset picks last week, while my SBD formula went 0-3. It was a very forgettable one. My formula has a handful of upsets it is predicting in Week 17, while I have a couple.

Three of the upsets my SBD formula is calling for above have some pretty tight margins of victory. All of the Cardinals, Titans, and Packers are projected to win their respective games by less than three points, which are its three tightest margins of Week 17.

Cowboys Over Eagles
I believe the result of last week’s Eagles game should be a testament to how crucial Jalen Hurts is to Philadelphia’s offense. The Eagles were up 7-0, moving the ball at will, and well on their way to being up 14-0 before Hurts was forced from the game with a concussion. Kenny Pickett took over in the middle of a drive and finished it in the endzone. We then saw Saquon Barkley rip off a 68-yard TD to make the game 21-7 before the first quarter had even wrapped up.
But the Eagles offense would not score another touchdown over the final three quarters, as Washington was able to key on slowing down Barkley, and Pickett was unable to consistently attack with his arm.
Now that we know Hurts will miss Philadelphia’s Week 17 matchup with the Cowboys, I expect we’ll see Dallas employ the same strategy – sell out to stop the run and make Pickett beat them with his arm. I don’t think he’s going to be able to do it consistently enough to beat a Dallas team that is starting to play some decent football, winning four of their last five.
I do appreciate that Dallas ranks 30th in yards allowed per carry, but Washington ranks 29th and they were able to slow Barkley down in the second half.
I don’t foresee Cooper Rush lighting up this Eagles defense the same way Jayden Daniels did, but I think he’ll be able to do just enough, while maybe getting some scoring help from his defense too.
- Pick: Cowboys moneyline (+300 at bet365)
Packers Over Vikings
While my first pick above is more about fading a quarterback, this one is me backing a very good quarterback in Jordan Love.
When the Packers and Vikings met back in Week 4, it was Love’s first game back from a knee injury he suffered against the Eagles in Week 1. He had a bit of a rough first half, as it was clear there was some rust he needed to shake off, but then nearly brought his team back from a 28-7 deficit entering the fourth quarter. Green Bay would go on to lose 31-29, but I don’t believe they would have come out with a loss if they had a more complete game from their QB.
I don’t think that’ll be something the Packers need to worry about this time around, as Love is appearing to mirror his second half surge from last season. He has posted a passer rating of at least 107.7 in five of his last six, with the lone exception being their blowout of New Orleans last week.
I also believe Matt LaFleur’s creative rushing attack will have success against the league’s second-best defense against the run. His pre-snap motion, zone scheme, and misdirection will play well against any defense – not to mention, Josh Jacobs is playing very well right now.
On the other side, I like Green Bay’s defense to give Sam Darnold and the Vikings offense some trouble. They have been very good against the run and pass this season, and have been generating a ton of takeaways.
So, I am giving the nod to the Packers on both sides of the ball in this one, and I like them to pull off the upset.
- Pick: Packers moneyline (+100 at bet365)
As the NFL regular season comes to a close, Week 17 is shaping up to be an exciting one with several games having the potential for upsets. Both experts and computer algorithms have been hard at work analyzing the matchups and making predictions on which teams are most likely to pull off surprising victories.
One game that has caught the attention of many experts is the matchup between the New England Patriots and the Miami Dolphins. The Patriots have been struggling in recent weeks, while the Dolphins have been playing some of their best football of the season. The computer algorithms also favor the Dolphins in this game, giving them a slight edge in what could be a close contest.
Another game to keep an eye on is the showdown between the Los Angeles Rams and the Arizona Cardinals. The Rams are fighting for a playoff spot, but the Cardinals have been playing well and could potentially play spoiler in this matchup. The computer predictions are split on this game, with some algorithms favoring the Rams and others giving the edge to the Cardinals.
In addition to these games, there are several other matchups in Week 17 that have the potential for upsets. The experts and computer algorithms are closely monitoring games like the Baltimore Ravens vs. Cincinnati Bengals, the Seattle Seahawks vs. San Francisco 49ers, and the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cleveland Browns.
While nothing is certain in the NFL, both experts and computer predictions can provide valuable insights into which teams are most likely to come out on top in Week 17. As fans gear up for an exciting weekend of football, all eyes will be on these potential upsets and the impact they could have on the playoff picture.
