Boise State failed to cover against Georgia Southern, but there was a lot to be excited about for the Mountain West favorite, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Running back Ashton Jeanty scored six touchdowns in their first game against Georgia Southern. He finished the game with 267 yards and averaged over 13 yards per carry.

Quarterback Maddux Madsen played well too. He was 22 of 31 for 280 yards and a touchdown. Boise State will try to take advantage of Oregon’s defensive front which has a lot of new faces.
Boise State returned seven starters on the defensive side of the ball, so they have experience, but they still struggled against Georgia Southern’s offense. They allowed over 300 yards through the air, and now play an explosive offense in Oregon. Their defense will need to step up if they want to stay in this one.
Oregon Betting Trends
Oregon really disappointed in their opener against Idaho. They were great in between the 20s but could not convert that production into points. Despite that, their stars still showed up on the stat sheet. Dillon Gabriel threw for 380 yards and two touchdowns, and Tez Johnson had 12 receptions. Johnson caught both of Gabriel’s touchdown passes.
Their defense did look good against Idaho. They gave up 14 points, but one of the touchdowns that they allowed was because of a short field. They will have a tougher task on Saturday night with Jeanty and co.
Even though it was a scare, the Ducks escaped with the win, so no harm no foul. It is now on Dan Lanning to get his team ready to execute on both sides of the ball.
Oregon vs Boise State Prediction
This point total is high for a reason. Both teams can score, and I expect a lot of points to be scored on Saturday night. Boise State just scored 56 points in Week 1, and while Oregon’s defense is a big step up from Georgia Southern, they still have the talent to get the ball into the endzone. Boise State is a program that will not be afraid of a Power 5 team, and with their eyes on the extended college football playoff bracket, they know how big this game is for them.
Boise State has been an over team of late. The over has hit in each of their last four games and in seven of their last ten. Even though Oregon scored just 24 points against Idaho, I believe they will come out firing this game. I trust Dan Lanning getting his team ready to go after their disappointing performance in Week 1.
Last week could have easily been a combination of first-game nerves or just taking time for all the new pieces to gel. They might not have scored many points, but their offense still moved the ball well, and now they face a vulnerable Boise State defense. I expect this game to have closer to 70 points scored than 60.
