Will the Leafs Trade Mitch Marner?

Despite ongoing trade rumors, Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner is a -220 favorite to return to Toronto. Marner’s current six-year, $65.4 million contract is set to expire after the 2024-25 season, and he’s yet to agree on an extension.

Regarding his contract talks, the latest information indicates that the Maple Leafs are preparing to make a contract offer to Marner, with the first day he’s eligible to receive an offer being July 1. However, there are also reports suggesting that the Leafs are exploring the trade market for Marner.

Brad Treliving, the Leafs’ general manager, has not publicly backed keeping (or extending) Marner the way he did with Nylander last offseason, which suggests that the team is considering various options.

According to TSN, Marner is focused on honoring the final year of his deal and seeing how things progress from there. This would indicate that Toronto at -220 odds could actually be solid value despite the heavy juice. That is only a 68.8% implied probability for Marner’s Toronto return.

If the Leafs were to explore the trade route, the Predators (+1600) make sense as a trading partner. Nashville features cap space, lack of state income tax, and desire to add offensive firepower. After finishing bottom half of the league in scoring, Nashville needs an offensive superstar like Marner to truly compete in the loaded West.

Marner Next Team Pick:

  • Toronto (-220)
  • Value Bet: Nashville (+1600)

Stammer Still Favored to Return to Bolts

Steven Stamkos is still a +110 favorite to return to the Tampa Bay Lightning despite a report Friday stating the longtime Bolt will become a free agent on July 1. “Stammer” has played his entire 16-year career with Tampa Bay, netting 40 goals during the 2023-24 campaign.

Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois recently expressed uncertainty about the team’s ability to re-sign Stamkos before the start of free agency. Both sides have expressed interest in reaching a deal, but they have not been able to agree on terms that are satisfactory for both parties.

If Stamkos does not re-sign with the Lightning, several teams could be potential fits for the veteran forward. Oddsmakers have the Detroit Red Wings and Nashville Predators as the two top landing spots for Stamkos outside of a return to Tampa.

As mentioned in the Marner section, the Predators have cap space and could use another goal-scorer to complement Filip Forsberg. Tennessee’s lack of state income tax could also be appealing to Stamkos.

Stammer also has connections to the Red Wings through GM Steve Yzerman and head coach Derek Lalonde. Toronto is the potential longshot at +800 if the Leafs were to move on from Marner or John Tavares. While Stamkos is from Ontario, we’re spectiikipal the Leafs will want to hand out another hefty contract to an aging forward.

While there are several potential suitors for Stamkos, we can’t envision him playing anywhere but Tampa. We will take advantage of the plus-money on this bet and forecast the two sides to come to an agreement just in the nick of time.

  • Stamkos Next Team Pick: Lightning (+110)

Patrick Kane Next Team Odds

Team Odds
DET Red Wings -120
NY Rangers +250
Field (Any Other) +500
NSH Predators +1000
FLA Panthers +1200
BOS Bruins +1200
VGK Golden Knights +1500
EDM Oilers +2000

Where Will Patrick Kane End Up?

Another intriguing name in the NHL Next Team odds is Patrick Kane, whose future with the Detroit Red Wings remains uncertain. Kane signed a one-year, $2.75 million contract with Detroit in November 2023 after undergoing hip resurfacing surgery in June.

The NHL Next Team odds favor Kane to re-up with the red and white, pricing the three-time Stanley Cup champion at -140 to return to the Motor City. The Rangers, the team Kane played for in the previous year, are listed as the second choice at +310.

The 35-year-old winger had a successful comeback season, tallying 20 goals and 47 points in 50 games and helping the Red Wings in their push to make the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

In a recent interview, Kane expressed his happiness with the decision to join the Red Wings organization, praising the coaches and teammates. However, he did not disclose any plans regarding a potential contract extension, preferring to focus on the remaining games of the season.

Kane has his running mate Alex DeBrincat with him in Detroit, so it’s certainly possible “Kaner” comes to an agreement with the Wings. However, we can’t help but wonder about a Rangers reunion. Larry Brooks of the New York Post recently reported that the Rangers are “very interested” in bringing Kane back to Broadway for the 2024-25 campaign.

While DeBrincat is in Detroit, Artemi Panarin, another one of Kane’s former linemates, is in New York. The Rangers were just one series win away from making the Stanley Cup Final, and with Kaner already 35 years of age, we think he will be intrigued by the possibility of rejoining one of the league’s best teams.

As the NHL offseason approaches, fans and analysts alike are buzzing with excitement over the potential signings of some of the league’s top players. Among the most talked-about names are Mitch Marner, Steven Stamkos, and Patrick Kane, all of whom could potentially be on the move to new teams in the coming months.

One of the biggest factors in determining where these players will end up is the betting odds. Oddsmakers have been hard at work crunching the numbers and analyzing the potential landing spots for these star players. Let’s take a closer look at the betting odds for each player and what they could mean for their future in the NHL.

Mitch Marner is one of the most sought-after restricted free agents in the league, with several teams reportedly interested in signing him to an offer sheet. The Toronto Maple Leafs have made it clear that they want to keep Marner in Toronto, but with cap constraints looming, it’s unclear if they’ll be able to make a competitive offer. The New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens, and Chicago Blackhawks are among the teams rumored to be in the running for Marner’s services.

According to the latest betting odds, the Maple Leafs are still the favorites to re-sign Marner, with odds of -150. The Rangers and Canadiens are next in line, with odds of +300 and +500, respectively. The Blackhawks are considered a long shot, with odds of +1000.

Steven Stamkos is another player who could be on the move this offseason. The Tampa Bay Lightning captain has been a staple of the team for over a decade, but with the Lightning facing cap constraints of their own, Stamkos could be traded to free up space. The Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, and New York Rangers are all rumored to be interested in acquiring Stamkos.

The current betting odds have the Lightning as the favorites to retain Stamkos, with odds of -200. The Maple Leafs and Red Wings are next in line, with odds of +400 and +600, respectively. The Rangers are considered a long shot, with odds of +1200.

Patrick Kane is another player who could be on the move this offseason. The Chicago Blackhawks star has been the subject of trade rumors for years, and with the team looking to rebuild, Kane could be a valuable trade chip. The Buffalo Sabres, New York Rangers, and Los Angeles Kings are all rumored to be interested in acquiring Kane.

The current betting odds have the Blackhawks as the favorites to retain Kane, with odds of -250. The Sabres and Rangers are next in line, with odds of +400 and +600, respectively. The Kings are considered a long shot, with odds of +1200.

Overall, the betting odds suggest that Marner is the most likely of the three players to switch teams this offseason, with Stamkos and Kane more likely to stay put. However, anything can happen in the world of sports betting, so fans will have to wait and see how it all plays out.
