Best Player Prop Bets for Monday Night Football Week 5: New Orleans Saints vs Kansas City Chiefs

  • We’re staring at one of the greatest possible matchups we could get with the Saints/Chiefs on Monday Night Football tonight
  • Sides and totals are fun but my favorite way to get down on the NFL is by betting player props
  • See below to find two of my favorite Saints vs Chiefs player props to bet for this MNF matchup

What we need tonight are winners. Monday Night Football was invented so gamblers could get one more lick in on the books before the next week begins. After having two games in each of the last two weeks, we’re back to just one but I don’t think that should stop us. We have to be able to find something. We’re gamblers, that’s what we do.

The good news is, we’re looking at what could be the greatest game we’ve ever seen. Though the New Orleans Saints vs Kansas City Chiefs odds show a game total of just 43.5, there is star power all over the place. Lucky for us, I think I may have stolen the script. I didn’t mean to, it just happened. This could easily be the greatest night of our lives. Feels right.

Saints vs Chiefs Player Prop Picks

Player Rush Attempts Rushing Yards Picks
Kareem Hunt (RB, Chiefs) 11.5 (Ov -135 / Un +105) 44.5 (Ov -115 / Un -115) 50+ Rushing Yards (+135)

Both of tonight’s Saints vs Chiefs player prop picks focus on KC running back Kareem Hunt, who’s back where he started his career after five mediocre seasons with the Browns.

Kareem Hunt Should Be Busy

The Kansas City Chiefs have been ravaged by injuries lately. First, it was Isaiah Pacheco, then last week they lost Rashee Rice. Most teams don’t recover well from losses like that but we’re talking the Kansas City Chiefs here people. They know what they’re doing.

Plus, they have the help from a familiar face that doesn’t mind doing the dirty work.

If I were the Chiefs, I would want to keep the ball out of the hands of the New Orleans Saints offense tonight. It’s tough to score without the ball. That’s just a big ole fact. One way to do that is to keep the ball on the ground. It’s a strategy as old as time.

We saw them utilize this strategy last week at the beginning of the second quarter. Kareem Hunt got his first carry at that point of the game, then went on to tote the rock 14 times. They were down 10-0 and ended up winning the game 17-10. Remember, Hunt didn’t carry the ball even once in the first quarter. Tonight, without Clyde Edwards-Helaire making his season debut, I’d think it’s the Kareem Hunt show again.

If we’re being honest, we could be looking at the greatest bet of all time here people. Look alive.

Kareem Hunt Will Be Effective

It’s one thing to say a guy will have volume, but it’s a totally different thing to say that volume will lead to production. After all, this is the NFL. Just because you have a jersey, doesn’t mean you’ll be able to excel.

Lucky for us, the man we’re backing, doesn’t give up easy.

This one is simple, the Chiefs won’t see a ton of stacked boxes because they have Patrick Mahomes. He’s good. So when they run the ball, theoretically, it should be into less people at the line of scrimmage. That helps a guy like Hunt who doesn’t really dance. He sees his target and he hits it. It’s just how he rolls.

The Saints have had a hard time against the run all season. Just last week, we saw Tyler Allgier break them off for 60 rushing yards on just eight carries. The week before, Saquon Barkley went for 147 on them. Keep in mind, we only need 50+ out of Kareem Hunt tonight.

Even if Hunt is past his prime, he is still good enough for 50+ rushing yards. He just had almost 70 last week and he was fresh off of his couch. Feels right.

As Monday Night Football approaches in Week 5, all eyes are on the highly anticipated matchup between the New Orleans Saints and the Kansas City Chiefs. While the game itself is sure to be a thrilling showdown between two powerhouse teams, many fans and bettors are also looking to capitalize on player prop bets to add an extra layer of excitement to the game.

For those unfamiliar with player prop bets, they are wagers placed on specific individual player performances rather than the outcome of the game as a whole. These bets can range from predicting how many passing yards a quarterback will throw for, to how many receptions a wide receiver will make, to whether a running back will score a touchdown.

When it comes to Monday Night Football Week 5, there are several enticing player prop bets to consider for the Saints vs Chiefs matchup. Here are a few that stand out:

1. Alvin Kamara Over 100 Total Yards
One of the most dynamic playmakers in the NFL, Alvin Kamara has been a key weapon for the Saints offense this season. With his ability to contribute both as a runner and a receiver, Kamara is a threat to rack up yards in multiple ways. Against a tough Chiefs defense, Kamara will likely be heavily involved in the game plan, making the over on 100 total yards a tempting bet.

2. Patrick Mahomes Over 300 Passing Yards
As the reigning Super Bowl MVP, Patrick Mahomes is known for his ability to light up the scoreboard with his arm. Facing off against a Saints defense that has struggled at times this season, Mahomes could have a field day throwing the ball. With weapons like Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce at his disposal, Mahomes has a good chance of surpassing the 300-yard mark in this game.

3. Tyreek Hill Anytime Touchdown Scorer
Known for his blazing speed and big-play ability, Tyreek Hill is always a threat to find the end zone. With his chemistry with Mahomes and his knack for making defenders miss, Hill is a prime candidate to score a touchdown in this game. Whether it’s on a deep bomb or a short pass that he takes to the house, Hill is a solid bet to cross the goal line at least once.

4. Clyde Edwards-Helaire Over 75 Rushing Yards
The rookie running back out of LSU has quickly made a name for himself in the Chiefs backfield. With his combination of speed, power, and elusiveness, Clyde Edwards-Helaire has the potential to break off big runs against the Saints defense. If he gets enough carries, Edwards-Helaire could easily surpass 75 rushing yards in this game.

Overall, player prop bets can add an extra layer of excitement and intrigue to Monday Night Football Week 5. Whether you’re betting on individual performances or looking to capitalize on specific matchups, there are plenty of opportunities to cash in on the Saints vs Chiefs game. Just remember to do your research, trust your instincts, and enjoy the thrill of watching these talented players compete on the national stage.
