Best NFL Prop Bets for Week 16 Sunday Games (Dec. 22)

  • It’s never too early to lock in for the NFL Week 16 slate on December 22nd, 2024
  • The best way I know how to get in on the action is by betting NFL player props
  • Getting bets in on Friday is my favorite strategy, and it’s no different for this week

I really don’t know what happened to all of our winnings from the Friday NFL Player Prop releases. There was a time when we were literally bathing in cash. I actually burned some in the fireplace to heat my home. Now, we’re looking at being basically even for the season. Sure, when we factor in all the fun we had, we’re way up. But as far as actual cash, we’re flatlined.

But here’s the thing about gambling. All we have to do is lock-in, and we’re back. The only way I know how to do it is to scan the market on Friday for two easy bangers for Sunday. The books never see it coming. This week, we’ve got two of the most incredible opportunities ever, the first of which is in the Detroit Lions/Chicago Bears game. Then, when they’re done, we’ll hit the San Francisco 49ers/Miami Dolphins matchup. This could easily be the greatest Sunday of our entire lives.

Jared Goff Won’t Be Needed Sunday

I hate taking the under. Everyone knows that. There’s just something about the under that makes me sick. It feels negative, and I’m a positive person. I want people to do well. I’m a dreamer.

But here’s the thing about people doing well: sometimes they don’t. And when we know someone won’t do well, we should bet on it.

Let’s get clear about something really quickly: Jared Goff is good. In fact, this bet really doesn’t have a lot to do with him. Sure, Goff is an indoor cat, and this game is outside in the cold where indoor cats can’t survive, but still. This bet is about just how the game will flow.

One thing we know about the Detroit Lions is, they operate differently based on who they play. If they need Goff to throw the ball 1000 times, they will do that. If they think they can win a rock fight where the ball stays on the ground, then that’s what will happen. It’s how winners win to be honest.

This game with the Bears feels like one of those games where the ball will just stay on the ground. We already know Goff is an indoor cat, but on top of that, the Bears are a team that can be attacked on the ground. The haters are going to say that David Montgomery is out, but the Lions can just use the “next man up” approach. This feels easy.

  • The Pick: Jared Goff Under 23.5 Passing Completions (-120) – BetMGM

Jauan Jennings Is The Guy Now

We all saw the memes after the last San Francisco game. Deebo Samuel was clowned like I’ve never seen. People were using Grok to make AI images on Twitter, and honestly, it was very funny. Mean, but funny.

But here’s the thing: I think Brock Purdy has caught the scent of another stag in his nostrils. The fantasy guys have noticed it, too.

That stag has a name, and it’s Jauan Jennings. Over the last six weeks, Jennings has been a target magnet for Purdy. The man has been targeted at least seven times in five of those six games. The only time he wasn’t was against Buffalo in a literal severe weather situation. Jerry Rice wouldn’t have been able to work in that kind of environment.

Sunday will be a lot different for Jauan. He’s in sunny Florida, just soaking up rays and balls. We’re talking weather in the mid-70s with barely any wind to speak of—perfect passing weather.

The haters are going to say that Jauan is looking at a Dolphins secondary that is pretty good. The way to shut the haters up is to ask them about a couple of weeks ago when both Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson went 100+ on this same Dolphins secondary. Case closed. Jauan is going way over 58.5 receiving yards. Feels right.

As we head into Week 16 of the NFL season, there are plenty of exciting matchups to look forward to on Sunday. While betting on the point spread or over/under totals are popular options, prop bets can add an extra layer of excitement to your game day experience. Here are some of the best NFL prop bets to consider for the Sunday games on December 22nd.

1. Total Passing Yards – Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens)
Lamar Jackson has been lighting up the league with his dual-threat abilities this season. The Ravens are facing the Cleveland Browns, who have struggled against mobile quarterbacks. Look for Jackson to have a big day through the air and on the ground. Bet on him to go over his passing yards total.

2. Total Receiving Yards – Michael Thomas (New Orleans Saints)
Michael Thomas has been a force to be reckoned with this season, leading the league in receptions and receiving yards. The Saints are facing the Tennessee Titans, who have a solid defense but have shown vulnerability against top-tier receivers. Bet on Thomas to have a big game and go over his receiving yards total.

3. Total Rushing Yards – Derrick Henry (Tennessee Titans)
Derrick Henry has been a workhorse for the Titans this season, leading the league in rushing yards. The Titans are facing a tough Saints defense, but Henry has shown he can produce against any opponent. Bet on him to go over his rushing yards total in what should be a competitive game.

4. Total Touchdowns – Christian McCaffrey (Carolina Panthers)
Christian McCaffrey has been a standout player for the Panthers this season, leading the league in total touchdowns. The Panthers are facing the Indianapolis Colts, who have struggled against dynamic playmakers like McCaffrey. Bet on him to score at least one touchdown in what should be a high-scoring game.

5. Total Interceptions – Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers)
Aaron Rodgers has had a solid season for the Packers, but he has thrown his fair share of interceptions. The Packers are facing the Minnesota Vikings, who have a strong secondary that can take advantage of mistakes. Bet on Rodgers to throw at least one interception in what should be a closely contested divisional matchup.

When placing prop bets, it’s important to do your research and consider factors such as recent performance, matchups, and injuries. Remember to always bet responsibly and within your means. Good luck and enjoy the games!
