The giants of Germany meet Il Biscione of Italy on Tuesday when Bayern Munich hosts Inter Milan in the first leg of their home-and-home Champions League quarterfinal at 3:00 pm ET. Per usual, Bayern is a significant home favorite and is slight chalk to advance to the UCL semifinals.

Bayern heads into the quarterfinals as the fourth-favorite in the Champions League odds at +500. Inter is a +1000 longshot; only Aston Villa (+2800) and Borussia Dortmund (+4000) have longer odds at this stage of the competition.
Surprisingly, Bayern didn’t in the top eight of the standings in the new-look Champions League group phase, going 5-0-3 with a +8 goal differential. As such, they had to navigate their way through the round of 24 (the top-eight finishers received byes to the round of 16). Bayern held off a stiff challenge from Celtic (3-2 on aggregate) before absolutely pasting compatriots Bayer Leverkusen (5-0 on aggregate) in the round of 16.
After going 6-1-1 with a +10 goal difference, Inter did get a bye to the round of 16, where they thoroughly outclassed Dutch side Feyenoord (4-1 on aggregate).
Both sides are leading their domestic leagues. Inter (68 points in 31 matches) has a three-point lead on Napoli in Serie A, while Bayern (68 points in 28 matches) has a six-point cushion on reigning-champion Leverkusen (and 20 points on third-place Frankfurt).
Projected Bayern vs Inter Lineups & Injuries
As mentioned above, both sides are dealing with significant injury blows. On the Bayern side, it starts in net where Manuel Neuer is out with a calf injury. On defense, Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano and Hiroki Ito are all sidelined. In the midfield, manager Vincent Kompany will have to do without the services of Aleksandar Pavlovic and Jamal Musiala. Up front, the speedy Kingsley Coman is out with a knock to his thigh.
Inter will be without star defender Denzel Dumfries, midfielders Kristjan Asllani, Piotr Zielinski, and Valentin Carboni, along with forward Mehdi Taremi.

Their propensity to conceded, though, has become an issue. They’ve kept five clean sheets in their last 17 matches, but three of those were against a Leverkusen side they seem to know inside and out. In that same 17-match span, Munich has conceded 20 total goals. They also allowed 12 goals in just eight group-stage UCL matches.
Inter is unbeaten in 10 straight matches (7-3-0) and scored at least one goal in all ten, averaging 1.8 GPG in that 10-game stretch. After missing a pair of matches in late March/early April, Lautaro Martinez managed to go 65 minutes against Parma last weekend. The prolific Argentinian leads Inter with 18 goals in 40 matches across all competitions and forms one of the best attacking tandems anywhere in the world alongside Frenchman Marcus Thuram (17 goals in 41 matches).
