Scheffler’s odds have actually gotten slightly longer from where they opened on Sunday night (+290) but he remains the shortest favorite at a major since Tiger Woods in 2009.
The 39-year-old Kaymer, who now plays on the LIV Golf tour, is listed at +30000 to win for a second time at Pinehurst.
Scheffler Enters 2024 US Open Red-Hot
Scheffler’s incomprehensible hot streak continued last weekend with a win at the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, OH. Scheffler looked mortal on Sunday, firing a two-over 74 in tough conditions but that was enough hold off Collin Morikawa for a one-stroke victory at Muirfield.
Scheffler has now won five tournaments on tour already this season and hasn’t finished worse than T10 in any of his last eleven starts. All five of his victories have come in his last eight tournaments, and he also has a pair of T2s in that span and a T8 at the first major of the season, the PGA Championship.
Scheffler widened his already-massive lead in Strokes Gained after his victory at Muirfield. Scheffler now sits at +2.913 while second-ranked Xander Schauffele is back at 2.223 an third-ranked Rory McIlroy is at just 1.662. The gap between Scheffler and fourth-ranked Alex Noren (1.238) is bigger than the gap between Noren and 143rd-ranked Alejandro Tosti (-0.434).
Schauffele Continues Strong 2024
If it wasn’t for Scheffler’s current tear, a lot more people in the golf world would be talking about world #2 Xander Schauffele. After a T8 at Muirfield last week, the 30-year-old has now finished in the top ten in five of his last six tournaments, including his first-even major victory at the PGA Championship three weeks ago.
As mentioned, Schauffele is second in overall Strokes Gained this season, which includes sitting second in SG: Tee-to-Green, sixth in SG: Approach the Green, and seventh in SG: Off-the-Tee.
Schauffele also has a rock-solid history at the US Open: in seven previous starts, he’s never finished worse than T14 and each of his other six appearances results in a top-ten finish. His best was a T3 back in 2019 at Pebble Beach. Last year at Los Angeles Country Club, he finished T10 at -3.
2024 US Open Picks
- Xander Schauffele top-ten finish (+130)
- Scottie Scheffler to win (+320)

As the golfing world gears up for the tournament, fans and experts alike are analyzing the odds, making their picks, and predicting who will come out on top.
One of the favorites to win the 2024 US Open is Rory McIlroy. The Northern Irishman has had a stellar career, with multiple major championships to his name. McIlroy’s powerful driving and precise iron play make him a formidable opponent on any course, and his experience in major championships could give him an edge at Pinehurst No. 2. With odds of 10/1, McIlroy is definitely a strong contender for the title.
Another player to watch is Jon Rahm. The Spanish golfer has been in excellent form recently, with a string of impressive performances on the PGA Tour. Rahm’s accurate ball-striking and solid putting make him a consistent threat in any tournament, and he could be a serious contender at Pinehurst No. 2. With odds of 12/1, Rahm is definitely worth keeping an eye on.
Of course, no discussion of US Open contenders would be complete without mentioning defending champion Brooks Koepka. The American has a proven track record in major championships, with four wins to his name. Koepka’s combination of power and precision make him a formidable opponent on any course, and he will be looking to defend his title at Pinehurst No. 2. With odds of 8/1, Koepka is definitely a strong favorite to win.
In terms of dark horses, one player to watch is Collin Morikawa. The young American burst onto the scene in 2020 with a win at the PGA Championship, and he has continued to impress with his consistent play and cool demeanor under pressure. Morikawa’s accurate ball-striking and solid putting could serve him well at Pinehurst No. 2, and he could be a surprise contender for the title. With odds of 20/1, Morikawa is definitely worth considering as a potential winner.
As the 2024 US Open approaches, fans and experts are eagerly anticipating what promises to be an exciting tournament at Pinehurst No. 2.
