Clemson vs Georgia Odds & Early Prediction

One of the top non-conference college football games of the 2024 season pits the Georgia Bulldogs against the Clemson Tigers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Early Clemson vs UGA odds peg Kirby Smart’s team as a heavy -13.5-point favorite against Dabo Swinney’s Tigers.

Georgia was dethroned as national champions by Michigan last season but will be motivated to retake their seat at the top of college football’s throne. The Bulldogs, who won the National Title in 2022 and 2023, bring back 16 total starters, including several multi-year starters and All-SEC candidates.

Clemson, meanwhile, has taken a step back from their perch atop the college football world. After making 4 out of 5 College Football Playoffs from 2015-2019, the Tigers have gone just 29-9 over the past three seasons and failed to make the playoff. We have major concerns about their defense, with only two starters back in defensive back RJ Mickens and linebacker Barrett Carter.

These two teams last met in 2021, when Georgia grinded out a 10-3 victory in Charlotte. We think it will be a much more comfortable victory this time around. Swinney still refuses to use the transfer portal and we don’t believe his young talent will perform right out of the gate. This line has already moved from -12.5 to -13.5 at FanDuel, so we recommend locking in UGA sooner rather than later.

Texas vs Michigan Odds & Picks

Another early college football non-conference game we have marked down is a clash between Texas and Michigan in Week 2. The Wolverines, fresh off their first national title win since 1997, are installed as 3.5-point underdogs to the Longhorns.

While it’s true that the Wolverines are the defending national champs, the team faces significant turnover from their 2023 Big Ten championship team, especially on offense. The Wolverines lose starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy, running back Blake Corum, wide receiver Cornelius Johnson, and several starters along the offensive line to the NFL draft.

Michigan’s biggest offseason loss, however, is coach Jim Harbaugh to the NFL. This gives Texas the potential coaching edge in this game, with Steve Sarkisian returning to coach the Longhorns after leading them to a Big 12 title and CFP appearance last season. Texas is led by returning QB Quinn Ewers, a top contender in the Heisman odds.

The Wolverines will be breaking in plenty of new talent at skill positions, while Texas returns 70 percent of its production, which is second-most in the SEC. The experience and talent of Ewers, especially in big games, has us tempted to lay the 3.5 with Texas. However, incoming Michigan four-star QB Jadyn Davis has serious raw talent, and the UM defense won’t be an easy hurdle.
