Gervonta Davis vs Frank Martin Prediction
The main event is a clash between two undefeated lightweights looking to prove they are the best in the talent-rich 135-pound division. Gervonta Davis, a protégé of Floyd Mayweather Jr., has been a wrecking ball, steamrolling opponents with his explosive power.
In his last outing in April 2023, Davis scored a sensational 7th-round knockout over Ryan Garcia. The 29-year-old Baltimore native has stopped all but two of his opponents.
Meanwhile, the 29-year-old Frank Martin has been quietly climbing the ranks. The slick southpaw is coming off the biggest win of his career, a 12-round decision over Artem Harutyunyan last July. Martin used his speed, movement and sharp counterpunching to outbox the aggressive Harutyunyan.
This is a classic boxer vs puncher matchup. For Martin to pull off the upset, he’ll need to utilize his jab, angles and footwork to keep Davis at bay. He cannot afford to stand in the pocket and trade with the heavy-handed Davis. Martin’s best chance is to pile up points early and avoid getting clipped by Davis’ thunderous left hand.
29-0 | Record | 18-0 |
27 | Knockouts | 12 |

67.5″ (171 cm) | Reach | 68″ (173 cm) |

On the flip side, Davis is going to try to close in on his opponent, target the body, and find chances to land his powerful shots. Davis is good at patiently pursuing his opponent and not wasting any punches. He’s really smart when it comes to boxing and can adjust his strategy during the fight. If he can consistently trap Martin against the ropes, the fight might not last very long.
While “The Ghost” has the style and skills to make this competitive, Davis’ experience on the big stage and fight-ending power gives him the edge. Look for Davis to gradually break down Martin and score a late stoppage to retain his title.
Davis vs Martin Picks:
- Gervonta Davis wins by TKO
David Benavidez vs Oleksandr Gvozdyk Prediction
The co-feature is an intriguing matchup as David Benavidez moves up to 175 pounds to face former champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk for the WBC interim light heavyweight strap.
Benavidez has been a dominant force at super middleweight, with his only blemishes being a pair of title strippings outside the ring. The 27-year-old Phoenix native is coming off a 3rd round TKO over Caleb Plant in his last bout.
Oleksandr Gvozdyk held the WBC light heavyweight title in 2018-2019 before losing it to Artur Beterbiev. The technically sound Ukrainian boxer took a long layoff after that fight and has had three lower-level comeback bouts since returning last year. At age 37, it remains to be seen how much the former Olympic bronze medalist has left in the tank.
Benavidez will have a notable youth advantage over Gvozdyk, as he’s 10 years younger than his Saturday foe. He’ll aim to use his size, strength and relentless pressure to overwhelm the older man. Benavidez is an excellent body puncher who breaks opponents down with his high volume output. However, he can be hit and was wobbled in the Plant fight.
28-0 | Record | 20-1 |
24 | Knockouts | 16 |
6’2″ (188 cm) | Height | 6’2″ (188 cm) |

For Gvozdyk to win, he must use his superior footwork and movement to stay off the ropes and out of range of Benavidez’s heavy artillery. Gvozdyk is an accurate puncher with good timing and counter-punching ability. If he can consistently land his straight right hand and left hook, he could potentially outbox Benavidez over 12 rounds.
Ultimately, Benavidez’s youth, size and work rate should be too much for Gvozdyk at this stage of his career. Expect the “Mexican Monster” to apply intense pressure, punish the body, and wear Gvozdyk down for a late stoppage victory.
Benavidez vs Gvozdyk Pick:
- David Benavidez wins by TKO
