The San Francisco 49ers (6-7, 4-3 home, 5-8 ATS) are officially in desperation mode with four weeks remaining in the regular season. Last year’s NFC champs are last in the tight NFC West and trail the final Wild Card berth by two games with three teams to leapfrog. On Thursday, the Niners will have a chance to surpass one of those teams when they host the division-rival Los Angeles Rams (7-6, 3-3 away, 6-7 ATS) at Levi Stadium at 5:20 pm PT/8:20 pm ET. The latest NFL odds list the Niners are slight home favorites on Thursday Night Football.

Rams vs 49ers Odds

Los Angeles Rams +2.5 (+102) +120 O 49.5 (-115)
San Francisco 49ers -2.5 (-125) -150 U 49.5 (-105)

The 49ers are 2.5-point or 3.0-point favorites, depending on the sportsbook, and about -150 on the moneyline. The Rams come back as +130 road underdogs. The game total is sitting at 49.5, which is up a full two points from where it opened on Sunday night.

The biggest injury questions on the San Francisco side this week are edge rusher Nick Bosa, who’s questionable with an oblique injury, LT Trent Williams, who’s questionable with an ankle issue, and RB1 Isaac Guerendo, who’s also questionable with a foot injury.

On the Los Angeles sideline, receivers Demarcus Robinson Q and Jordan Whittington are both listed as questionable, along with backup tight end Davis Allen and starting corner Cobie Durant.

The Rams took the first meeting of the season against the Niners, winning 27-24 at home in Week 3, despite San Francisco dominating the yardage battle (425 to 296). The Niners committed the only turnover of the game and missed a field goal that would have given them a 27-17 lead with under three minutes to play in the fourth quarter.  Matthew Stafford took full advantage of the miss, marching 55 yards in just three plays to tie the game before a Joshua Karty field goal with two seconds on the clock completed the epic comeback.

Rams vs 49ers H2H: Last Ten Meetings

Year Location Score Winner
2024 LA 27-24 Rams
2023 San Francisco 21-20 Rams
2023 LA 30-23 49ers
2022 LA 31-14 49ers
2022 San Francisco 24-9 49ers
2021 LA 27-24 OT 49ers
2021 San Francisco 31-10 49ers
2020 LA 23-20 49ers
2020 San Francisco 24-16 49ers
2021 San Francisco 34-31 49ers

LA’s Week 3 victory was their second in a row against the 49ers, but don’t call it a streak, exactly. The other victory was in Week 18 last year when the playoff-bound Niners were resting starters, including QB Brock Purdy. Prior to that game, the 49ers had won nine in a row against their in-state rivals.

Los Angeles Rams vs San Francisco 49ers Picks

I included San Francisco -2.5 among my favorite early Week 15 lines to target and I’m not backing off that handicap now. The Niners are being undervalued based on an injury-driven slump in the middle of the season. They’re still battling some significant injuries – including Christian McCaffrey – but last week’s 38-13 rout of the Bears showed there’s more than enough firepower left on this offense to put up a boatload of points. The Rams have won three straight road games, but only one of those was against a quality opponent (26-20 OT at Seattle).

I’m also betting the over despite it moving up a couple points in the last 72 hours. The Rams’ defense currently rates 20th in the NFL per PFF and was just torched for 42 points by Josh Allen and the Bills. Matthew Stafford and the offense put up 44 in a winning effort but that games was a good indication that the Los Angeles defense is running on fumes. Expect a similar track-meet dynamic in Week 15.

The Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers are set to face off in a highly anticipated matchup on Thursday Night Football in Week 15. Both teams are coming off strong performances in recent weeks, making this game a must-watch for football fans.

The Rams are currently sitting at the top of the NFC West with a record of 9-4. Led by star quarterback Matthew Stafford, the Rams have one of the most potent offenses in the league. Stafford has thrown for over 3,800 yards and 30 touchdowns this season, connecting with receivers Cooper Kupp and Odell Beckham Jr. for big plays down the field.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Rams have been solid all season, ranking in the top 10 in both points allowed and total yards allowed. Defensive stars Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey have been wreaking havoc on opposing offenses, making life difficult for quarterbacks and receivers alike.

The 49ers, on the other hand, are currently sitting at 7-6 and fighting for a playoff spot in the competitive NFC. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has been playing well in recent weeks, throwing for over 2,800 yards and 16 touchdowns on the season. Running back Elijah Mitchell has been a bright spot for the 49ers, rushing for over 700 yards and six touchdowns.

Defensively, the 49ers have been solid as well, ranking in the top half of the league in points allowed and total yards allowed. Linebacker Fred Warner has been a standout player for the 49ers, leading the team in tackles and making key plays all season.

When it comes to odds and picks for this matchup, the Rams are currently favored to win by a touchdown. With their high-powered offense and strong defense, it’s easy to see why the Rams are the favorites in this game. However, the 49ers have been playing well recently and could give the Rams a run for their money.

In terms of picks, it’s tough to bet against the Rams in this matchup. With Stafford leading the way on offense and Donald anchoring the defense, the Rams have all the tools to come out on top in this game. That being said, the 49ers are a talented team that should not be underestimated, so this game could go either way.

Overall, Thursday Night Football in Week 15 promises to be an exciting matchup between two talented teams vying for playoff positioning. With both teams playing at a high level, fans can expect a competitive and entertaining game that could come down to the wire.
