The 2025 MLB season technically started last week with the Cubs and Dodgers meeting in a two-game set in Japan. But, for the vast majority of the league, Thursday, March 27, marks Opening Day on the new season. In the table below, I have set out the odds (moneyline, spread, and total) for all 14 games on the MLB slate on Thursday. Under the table, find my pick for each game, along with the sportsbook that currently has the best available odds for that pick.

MLB Opening Day Odds 2025

Note that the odds in the table above are from DraftKings on March 26. In the table below, which sets out my favorite picks for each game, I have culled the best odds for that pick from one of five books: DK, FanDuel, Caesars, bet365, and BetMGM.

With every team sending their de facto ace to the mound on Opening Day, there aren’t any hugely lopsided moneyline odds among the 14 games on the slate. Zack Wheeler and the Philadelphia Phillies (-175) are the biggest favorite of the day on the road against Mackenzie Gore and the Washington Nationals. The Mariners (-170) are the only team team shorter than -164.

The run totals range from a mager 6.5 in Pirates vs Marlins to 8.5 in a trio of games: Tigers vs Dodgers, Cubs vs Diamondbacks, and Orioles vs Blue Jays.

MLB Opening Day Picks & Predictions

All wagers one unit unless expressly stated otherwise.

The vast majority of my MLB Opening Day picks are moneyline wagers, with eight of them on a plus-money underdog to win outright. Four of those are home underdogs.

I’m also targeting two first-X unders: under 1.5 in the first three innings between the Pirates and Marlins, and under 2.5 in the first five innings between the Braves and Padres. Both are electric pitching matchups. Pittsburgh sends Paul Skenes, the preseason favorite in the Cy Young odds, to the hill opposite Miami’s Sandy Alcantara, the 2022-winner.

The Braves give the opening-day start to reigning NL Cy Young-winner Chris Sale, who toes the rubber against Padres ace Michael King.
