  • The Philadelphia Phillies (53-28, 31-13 Home) look to even the series against the upset-minded Miami Marlins (29-52, 13-25 Away) Friday evening at 6:20 p.m.
  • The Phillies’ loss was not the story of the game Thursday evening. Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper both exited late from Game 1 and their status is unknown for Game 2.

The Philadelphia Phillies look to right the ship after falling to the Miami Marlins 7-4 Thursday evening. Miami, which has a 29-52 record on the season and has mightily struggled, sits at 2-2 on the season against the dominant Phillies.

And things just get worse for Philly following Game 1. Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber are day-to-day, both appearing to suffer strains in the 9th inning of last night’s loss.

Miami Marlins vs. Philadelphia Phillies Prediction

  • PHI vs. MIA pick: Over 8.5 (-115)

Full disclosure: I think the Phillies bounce back and win this game. If you want to play completely safe, Phillies ML is unlikely to go wrong but the odds are just not attractive at all. Marlins moneyline isn’t a terrible play either at +105, especially with Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper’s status unknown as of Friday morning.

Cristopher Sanchez is on the bump today and he’s given up some success to Marlins batters, who averaged around .263 against him. Philadelphia is 7-2 in his last starts and has hit the under in 5 of his last 7 starts.

Sanchez is building some strong momentum after struggling to kick off the season. He’s gone 7 innings in both his prior starts, earning the win in both of them.

Phillies vs. Marlins Odds

Team Runline Moneyline Total
Miami Marlins +1.5 (+105) +210 O 8.5 (-105)

As you can see above and alluded to in the above section, the Phillies are heavy, heavy favorites for Friday’s matchup. Philadelphia sits at a commanding -267 on the moneyline and is -125 to win by 2 or more runs.

Miami is given +105 odds to keep the game within a run and sits at +210 on the moneyline.

The over/under for this game is set at 8.5. All 4 games played between Miami and Philadelphia this season have been over this number. Philadelphia is 35-41-5 against the over this season across all games while Miami is 42-38-1.

Phillies vs. Marlins Best Value Player Props (June 28)

Player Props (Miami vs. Philadelphia) Odds
Cristopher Sanchez under 18.5 outs -170
Kyle Tyler under 2.5 Ks +130
Garrett Stubbs over 0.5 hits -135

All odds above via DraftKings Sportsbook.

Sanchez has thrown 7 innings in both his past 2 starts. And while he didn’t throw a lot of pitches in those outings, he has yet to throw 3 straight games of 7+ innings yet this season. Not to mention, Miami has seen success off him in the past.

Tyler has yet to see more than a pair of strikeouts yet this season. He doesn’t throw many per 9 innings (4.5) and I am willing to bet he’s run fairly early tonight.

Stubbs recorded a hit over the Marlins last night and has also recorded a hit in 7 of his last 8 games.

The Miami Marlins faced off against the Philadelphia Phillies on June 28 in what was expected to be an exciting matchup between the two National League East rivals. Both teams were coming off strong performances in their previous games and were looking to continue their winning streaks.

The Marlins entered the game with a record of 38-40, sitting in fourth place in the division. They were led by their young and talented pitching staff, which had been performing well in recent weeks. The Phillies, on the other hand, had a record of 41-37 and were in second place in the division. They were led by their powerful lineup, which had been producing runs at a high rate.

In terms of picks and odds for the game, the Phillies were favored to win with odds of -150, while the Marlins were the underdogs with odds of +130. This meant that a bettor would have to wager $150 on the Phillies to win $100, while a $100 bet on the Marlins would result in a $130 payout.

As for props to consider for the game, one key prop to look at was the over/under for total runs scored. Given the strong pitching staffs of both teams, the under could be a good bet, especially if the game was played in a pitcher-friendly ballpark. Another prop to consider was the first team to score, as getting an early lead could be crucial in determining the outcome of the game.

Overall, the Marlins vs Phillies game on June 28 was shaping up to be a competitive and exciting matchup between two division rivals. With strong pitching on both sides and potent lineups, fans could expect a close and hard-fought game. Bettors should consider the odds and props carefully before placing their bets on this game.
