  • A massive game in Group D takes place at the Copa America on Tuesday, July 2
  • Brazil needs a win over Colombia to finish first in the group and avoid a matchup with Uruguay in the quarterfinals
  • Below, find the Brazil vs Colombia odds, predictions and best bets for Copa America 2024

Colombia (2-0-0) and Brazil (1-1-0) meet at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Tuesday night with first-place in Group D on the line. A draw would be good enough for Colombia to claim top spot – and book a quarterfinal clash with Panama instead of a highly undesirable matchup with Uruguay –  while Brazil need a victory to finish top of Group D.

Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 pm PT/9:00 pm ET. Costa Rica (0-1-1) and Paraguay (0-0-2) kickoff at the same time and, technically, Costa Rica could still snatch second-place in the group with a win and a Colombian victory, but they would need a monumentally unlikely six-goal swing in goal differential to overtake Brazil for the final spot in the knockout stage.

The last nine months have been some of the darkest in history for the Seleção. They currently sit sixth out of ten teams in CONMEBOL 2026 World Cup qualifying with a 2-1-3 record, that included three straight defeats to Uruguay (2-0 away), Colombia (2-1 away), and Argentina (1-0 home).

After a stunning nil-nil draw Costa Rica in their Copa America opener, Brazil ran its winless streak in competitive fixtures to five games.

Some demons were exorcised last time out, though, when Brazil scored three goals in a span of 15 minutes late in the first half against Paraguay en route to a 4-1 victory.

Ballon d’Or favorite Vinicius Junior scored twice while 20-year-old Savio added another and Lucas Paqueta tallied Brazil’s final goal from the spot (after missing a penalty in the first half with the score still 0-0).

No international side has been hotter than Colombia over the last year-plus. Los Cafeteros have won ten straight games, which includes victories over Brazil (2-1 home), USA (5-1 away), Spain (1-0 neutral), Mexico (3-2 neutral), and a Romanian side (3-2 neutral) that’s still alive and well at the Euros.

While Spain fielded a B-team of sorts when Colombia topped them in London (no Rodri, Pedri, Morata, Carvajal, Le Normand, etc.) that game still remains Spain’s only defeat in its last 16 matches.

Colombia’s undefeated streak has reached a preposterous 25 games, their last setback coming at Argentina in February 2022 during the Qatar World Cup qualification, which they devastatingly missed out on. The run largely coincides with Nestor Lorenzo replacing Reinaldo Rueda as head coach in mid-2022. (Lorenzo is 17-5-0 as manager of Colombia.)

They currently sit third in CONMEBOL’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers (3-3-0, 12 PTS), one back of second-place Uruguay and three back of leaders Argentina.

Colombia started the Copa with a 2-1 win over Paraguay (getting first-half goals from Crystal Palace duo Daniel Munoz and Jefferson Lerma) before a comprehensive 3-0 thrashing of the same Costa Rica side that held Brazil scoreless (goals from Luis Diaz, Davinson Sanchez, and Jhon Cordoba).

Brazil vs Colombia Prediction & Picks

Given the form that both teams have showed recently, I can’t pick against Colombia. They have been borderline brilliant at both ends of the pitch under Lorenzo and have the top-end talent to hang with the likes of Vinicius, Rodrygo, Paqueta, and Marquinhos.

While James Rodriguez has somewhat disappeared from the big stage when it comes to club competition since his lone season at Everton in 2020-21, his recent performances for Los Cafateros have reminded the world that the 31-year-old remains one of the top offensive players in the world. He’s  already picked up three assists at the Copa and has a goal and two assists in the first 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Brazil vs Colombia picks:

  • Colombia win or draw (-110) at bet365
  • First-half under 0.5 (+160)

Sascha Paruk’s 2024 Euro/Copa America betting record: 28-9-1 (+20.47 units)
