Tennessee Takes Down Texas, Auburn
As the #4 seed, Tennessee got the last double-bye to the quarterfinals in the 2025 SEC Tournament. They wound up with a favorable draw in the quarterfinals, facing a tired Texas team playing its third game in as many days. Chaz Lanier (18.1 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 1.0 APG) scored a game-high 23 points to pace the Vols during an 83-72 win. Tennessee finished the game +6 on the glass and +4 in turnovers while shooting a solid 50% from the field.
In the semifinals, the Vols were matchup up with #1-seed Auburn. A huge 20-point, four-rebound, four-assist night from point guard Zakai Zeigler (13.3 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 7.4 APG) spearheaded an impressive 70-65 victory over the Tigers. Tennessee once again owned a big edge on the glass (+8) and in turnover margin (+4).
TENN vs FLA KenPom Ratings
Florida’s Path to the SEC Title Game
The Gators were one of the biggest surprises this season, going from 26th in the opening KenPom rankings all the way to 4th ahead of their semifinal win over Alabama. If Cooper Flagg and Johni Broome weren’t having such phenomenal seasons, Walter Clayton (17.3 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 4.4 APG) would be in the conversation in the Wooden Award odds.
Clayton had a team-high 18 points in Florida’s 95-81 rout of Missouri in the SEC quarterfinals, while Will Richard (14.6 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 2.4 APG) and Alijah Martin (14.6 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 2.4 APG) both added 17 for the high-scoring Gators. Florida easily covered as 8.5-point favorites.
Against Alabama in the semifinals, Clayton again led the way with 22 points, three rebounds, and six assists in a 104-82 Florida victory as 3.5-point favorites.
Tennessee vs Florida Picks & Early Lines to Target
This game is going to be a contrast in styles between the slow-paced, defense-first Volunteers and the run-and-gun Gators. I don’t dislike the makeup of the Volunteers; I could easily see them making a deep run in the NCAA Tournament, and they’re worthy of their status as sixth-favorite in the March Madness odds.
But I can’t get away from Florida here. The Gators might end up being my pick to win the national championship. They’ve won four of their last five games by 14 or more points.

The highly anticipated SEC Championship game between the Tennessee Volunteers and the Florida Gators is quickly approaching, and oddsmakers have already released their predictions for the matchup. The Gators are currently listed as the favorites to win the game, with odds of -150, while the Volunteers are considered the underdogs with odds of +130.
This comes as no surprise to many college football fans, as the Gators have had an impressive season so far, boasting a record of 10-2 and securing their spot in the championship game with a dominant performance against their rivals. On the other hand, the Volunteers have had a solid season as well, with a record of 9-3, but they will have their work cut out for them if they hope to upset the Gators in the championship game.
One of the key factors that may play a role in determining the outcome of the game is the performance of each team’s quarterback. The Gators have been led by their star quarterback, who has thrown for over 3,000 yards and 25 touchdowns this season. On the other hand, the Volunteers have relied on their dual-threat quarterback, who has been a dynamic playmaker both through the air and on the ground.
In addition to the quarterback play, both teams will need to rely on their defense to come up big in this championship game. The Gators have one of the top defenses in the SEC, led by their stout defensive line and ball-hawking secondary. The Volunteers, on the other hand, have been solid on defense as well, with a strong pass rush and a physical secondary.
Ultimately, this SEC Championship game is shaping up to be a thrilling matchup between two talented teams. While the Gators may be the favorites according to oddsmakers, anything can happen in college football, and the Volunteers will be looking to pull off the upset and secure their spot in the College Football Playoff. Fans can expect a hard-fought battle between these two SEC powerhouses, with plenty of excitement and drama to unfold on game day.
