Can Ohio State go back-to-back?

Could Ryan Day and company win back-to-back National Championships? At +450 odds, the Buckeyes are favorites for good reason.

That being said, Ohio State is set to lose a ton of talent this off-season. Starting quarterback Will Howard will enter the 2025 NFL Draft. Tackles Josh Simmons and Donovan Jackson will follow him out the door. As will center Seth McLaughlin. Not to mention running backs Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson, and wide receiver Emeka Egbuka. And that’s just on the offensive side.

On defense, the Buckeyes will wave goodbye to star pass-rushers Jack Sawyer and JT Tuimoloau. Dynamic defensive tackle Tyleik Williams will also enter the draft. Additionally, number one corner Denzel Burke, and fellow defensive backs Lathan Ransom, Jordan Hancock and Davison Igbinosun will likely enter the draft. Plus, linebacker and team captain Cody Simon will walk into the sunset.

Ultimately, the Buckeyes will be hard pressed to replace the talent of a CFP National Championship winning roster. Moreover, winning a national title with the first-year starting quarterback in transfer Julian Sayin is easier said than done.

Oregon & Texas are Threats

After falling short of expectations, and losing to the eventual champion Buckeyes in successive weeks, both Oregon and Texas will be back with a vengeance next season.

With Dillon Gabriel entering the 2025 NFL Draft, junior quarterback Dante Moore is the next man up for the Ducks. A former five-star recruit, Moore transferred to Oregon after spending his first season in college football at UCLA. He sat comfortably behind Gabriel, as the Ducks finished the regular season a perfect 12-0 before defeating Penn State in the Big 10 championship, and finally, falling to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl.

Buoyed by a strong group of returning playmakers on both sides of the ball, Oregon looks set to become a powerhouse under Dan Lanning. Incoming five-star receiver Dakorien Moore’s addition certainly won’t hurt an offense that averaged over 35 points per game this season. Oregon’s win total is set at 10.5, so you can bet they’ll be in the National Championship mix.

Lurking in Austin, the Texas Longhorns are ready to contend for the 2025-26 College Football National Championship. The long-awaited Arch Manning era is finally here! Quinn Ewers officially declared for the NFL Draft in early January, so Steve Sarkisian will hand the keys to the next Manning quarterback. Thankfully, Arch will have plenty of help.

Five-star running back CJ Baxter will return from his knee injury, giving the Longhorns an explosive playmaker out of the backfield. On top of that, wide receivers Ryan Wingo and Kaliq Lockett slot in nicely after spending time behind Isaiah Bond and Matthew Golden. Tackle Trevor Goosby gained valuable experience after injuries forced him into the lineup this season and four-star Brandon Baker projects to take over on the right side.

Manning is set up for success in 2025. With a defense that surrendered just 15 points per game behind him, the Longhorns are a surefire 2025-26 College Football National Championship contender.
