Both the Philadelphia Eagles (12-2, 6-1 away) and Washington Commanders (9-5, 5-2 home) have plenty to play for when they clash in Week 16. Philly has a legit chance to claim the NFC’s top seed and the opening-round bye that comes with it, while Washington — a 3.5-point home underdog — is trying to make its way into the playoffs for the first time since 2020. Kickoff for this matchup of NFC East rivals is set for 1pm ET from Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland.

Detroit’s home loss to Buffalo last week left the door ajar for the Eagles. With both teams 12-2, Philly needs to finish with a game better than the Lions to claim the NFC top seed and the all important Round 1 bye that comes with it.

The Eagles are soaring, powered by a defense that allows an NFL-low 17.6 points per game. During its current 10-game win streak, only two teams have even cracked the 20-point plateau.

One of those wins came against these same Commanders, a 26-18 triumph where Saquon Barkley broke things open with a pair of fourth-quarter TDs en route to 146 yards rushing.

The Commanders have something to play for as well, as a win and some help on Sunday could clinch a Wild Card berth under rookie pivot Jayden Daniels.

Washington is a Top-6 scoring offense with Daniels at the helm, but Philly did a number on him in their first matchup. in Week 11. Daniels threw for 191 yards, just the second time all year he was held under 200, while throwing an interception and getting sacked three times.

In due time, Daniels will be the cheat code to pick apart a defense like Philadelphia’s. For now though, his defense — even with the addition of Marshon Lattimore at corner — is middle of the pack, and will be hard-pressed to stop the Eagles, who boast a Top 10 scoring unit to go with that dominant D.

The passing yards total for each quarterback is low, with Jalen Hurts having the highest number at 213.5 yards. While the Eagles shook off the drama and Hurts threw for 290 yards, I’m not sure if the Philly’s passing game woes are officially over.

Barkley has the highest rushing total, set at 98.5 yards, while AJ Brown has the highest reception line at 5.5, Teammate DeVonta Smith and Washington pass-catcher Terry McLaurin are set at 4.5 grabs.

Best Eagles vs Commanders Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Philadelphia Eagles -3.5 (-110) at Caesars -190 at Bet365 O 45.0 (-105) at BetMGM
Washington Commanders +4 (-108) at ESPNBet +175 at BetMGM U 46.5 (-110) at DraftKings

DraftKings and ESPNBet are two of the few books where you can get that extra point half-point for the Commanders at +4. It’s a pretty standard for the Eagles, as their line of -3.5 points is basically across the board, including Caesars.

BetMGM is providing the most juice for the underdog Commanders on the moneyline at +175, with the majority of sites keeping them in the +150 to +160 range. Conversely, most books are keeping the visiting Eagles at about -200 as the favorite, with Bet365 one of the few to come down, to -190.

There’s about a 1.5-point movement you can find in the total in the latest NFL odds. The best option for over bettors at the moment is 45.0 (-105) at BetMGM, with no sites dropping under that number. The highest option for under bettors is 46.5 (-110) at DraftKings.

There is no doubt the NFL public betting is on the Eagles. More than 86% of the bets and 93% of the money is on the Philly moneyline.

The Week 16 matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders is shaping up to be an exciting game with playoff implications for both teams. The Eagles are currently sitting at 7-7 and fighting for a wild card spot in the NFC, while the Commanders are just behind them at 6-8 and looking to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.

When it comes to predictions for this game, it’s a tough call. The Eagles have been playing well as of late, winning four of their last five games, while the Commanders have been struggling, losing three of their last four. However, divisional games are always unpredictable and anything can happen on any given Sunday.

In terms of player props to keep an eye on, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will be a key player to watch. Hurts has been playing at a high level recently, both with his arm and his legs, and could have a big game against a struggling Commanders defense. Look for Hurts to have a solid game and potentially put up some big numbers.

On the Commanders side, running back Antonio Gibson will be a player to watch. Gibson has been a bright spot for Washington this season, rushing for over 800 yards and seven touchdowns. He could have a big game against an Eagles defense that has struggled at times against the run.

As for the odds for this game, the Eagles are currently favored by around 4 points, with the over/under set at 44 points. This suggests that oddsmakers are expecting a relatively close game with a moderate amount of scoring.

Overall, this Week 16 matchup between the Eagles and Commanders should be an exciting one to watch. Both teams have a lot on the line and will be looking to come out on top. Keep an eye on key players like Jalen Hurts and Antonio Gibson, and be prepared for a competitive game that could go down to the wire.
