A huge Week 8 saw #1 Texas get run over at home by Georgia (30-15), which should mean that current #2 Oregon moves up to the top spot later today. The Ducks host a dangerous Illinois team in Week 9, but the opening Week 9 odds don’t give the Illini much of a chance to pull the upset. The table below lists the opening NCAAF Week 9 odds for all games currently on the board. More games will be added as they’re posted.

Oregon has opened as a massive 21.5-point home favorite over #21 Illinois, which is coming off an impressive 21-7 home victory over Michigan.
The other top-25 matchups included Alabama (currently #7 but destined to drop after losing 24-17 at Tennessee) laying 13.5 points at home to #19 Missouri, which earned a 21-17 home win over Auburn yesterday.
The only other ranked-on-ranked matchup (based on the polls after Week 8) is in the SEC, where #8 LSU is a 3.5-point road underdog at #14 Texas A&M.

Early NCAAF Week 9 Pick: BYU (-110) vs UCF – 1.1 units
My best bet last week was BYU (6-0, ATS) to stay perfect at home against a slumping OK State team. It was a hell of a sweat but the Cougars came through with a 38-35 victory.
Now 6-0, BYU heads to Orlando to face UCF (3-4, ATS) in a pick’em game at FBC Mortgage Stadium. The Knights are riding a four-game losing streak heading into Week 9. Yesterday was by far their best performance in that stretch, falling 38-35 at #9 Iowa State as 13.5-point road underdogs, but it will still go down as another loss.
The other results in their four-game skid include an ugly 48-21 home loss to Colorado, a 24-13 L at Florida, and a 19-13 home setback to Cincinnati.
Arkansas transfer KJ Jefferson is completing just 59.3% of his passes for the Knights, with seven TDs and four interceptions. The BYU defense showed some flaws in Week 8. The 35 points it allowed to OK State was a touchdown more than they’d surrendered in any other game this season. But it remains a staunch and talented unit, and I expect it to be the difference in the Week 9 tilt with the Knights.

Another key matchup in week 9 is the showdown between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Penn State Nittany Lions. Both teams are ranked in the top 10 and are vying for a spot in the Big Ten Championship game.
