Jets Bolster Offense with Adams Acquisition

New York sent shockwaves through the NFL by acquiring Adams from the Raiders for a conditional 2025 third-round pick. The move reunites Adams with quarterback Aaron Rodgers and gives the Jets one of the most lethal wide receiver duos in football alongside Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson.

Adding Adams should provide an immediate boost to a Jets offense that ranks just 26th in scoring at 18.8 points per game. His familiarity with Rodgers from their time in Green Bay is a major plus, as the two have a close relationship.

Adams, who has miraculously healed from his hamstring injury, only has one receiving touchdown so far this season. That could change dramatically with his reunion with Rodgers.

While Wilson’s target share will likely decrease with Adams now in the fold, the Jets believe they have the makings of an elite offense. They now boast arguably the NFL’s best wide receiver duo plus dynamic second-year running back Breece Hall.

According to ESPN’s Football Power Index, the Adams trade increased New York’s playoff chances from 30% to 46%. One player doesn’t fix all New York’s problems, but Adams has the talent to make an immediate impact.

Steelers Turn to Rusty Wilson Over Fields

The post-Kenny Pickett era has gotten off to a solid start in Pittsburgh. The Steelers are 4-2 and in the thick of the AFC North race. You won’t find Mike Tomlin’s team near the top of the NFL standings, but they’re still favored in the NFL playoff odds.

Pittsburgh will turn to a familiar face under center this week. Former Seahawks and Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson is slated to make his first start with the team. George Pickens accidentally broke the news of Wilson starting in a press conference Tuesday (oopsie).

Wilson signed a one-year, $1.2 million deal in the offseason and beat out former Bears starter Justin Fields for the job in training camp. But a calf injury sidelined him for the first six games, with Fields going 4-2 in his absence.

The Steelers hope Wilson can recapture the form that made him a nine-time Pro Bowler in Seattle. However, I’m very concerned about rust. The 34-year-old hasn’t taken a snap since the end of the 2023 season. He struggled mightily in Denver last year, going 4-12 as a starter with a career-low 84.4 passer rating.

The Steelers recently got some notable injury updates on key defenders ahead of this Jets matchup. While they removed defensive tackle Montravius Adams from the injury report, safety Damontae Kazee is listed as questionable for the game with an ankle injury.

Jets vs Steelers Prediction

One trend that bettors should note is Pittsburgh’s dominance over the Jets at home in recent years. The Steelers are 10-2 straight up in their last 12 games when playing at home against New York. However, I believe that streak ends on Sunday.

The Jets are the right side here, even as slight road favorites. The addition of Adams is a true game-changer for their offense, giving Rodgers the type of alpha receiver he thrived with in Green Bay. New York’s defense, led by breakout star Will McDonald IV (7 sacks), has also been stout, ranking fifth in pass EPA.

Conversely, the Steelers are taking a big risk starting a rusty Wilson over Fields, who has played well overall. Pittsburgh’s pass defense is also suspect, ranking just 16th in EPA.

I’m backing the Jets moneyline at -129 odds and also leaning towards the over on a low total of 39 points. Expect a breakout game from the Rodgers-Adams connection against a vulnerable Steelers secondary.

The New York Jets will be facing off against the Pittsburgh Steelers in a highly anticipated Sunday Night Football matchup. Both teams are coming off of disappointing losses and will be looking to bounce back with a win.

The Jets are currently sitting at 1-8 on the season and are in desperate need of a victory to turn their season around. Quarterback Sam Darnold has struggled this season, throwing for just 1,947 yards, 9 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. The Jets offense has been lackluster, ranking 31st in the league in total yards per game. However, they do have some weapons on offense in running back Le’Veon Bell and wide receiver Jamison Crowder.

On the other side of the ball, the Jets defense has also struggled, allowing an average of 26.4 points per game. They will need to step up their game against a tough Steelers offense led by quarterback Mason Rudolph.

The Steelers are currently 5-4 on the season and are coming off of a close loss to the Cleveland Browns. Despite losing starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to injury earlier in the season, Rudolph has performed admirably, throwing for 1,636 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. The Steelers defense has been their strong suit this season, ranking 7th in the league in total yards allowed per game.

In terms of predictions, the Steelers are favored to win this matchup with odds of -3.5. The over/under for total points scored is set at 38.5. Given the struggles of the Jets offense and the strength of the Steelers defense, it is likely that the Steelers will come out on top in this game.

Overall, this Sunday Night Football matchup between the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers is sure to be an exciting one. Both teams will be looking to secure a much-needed win and improve their standing in the league. Fans can expect a hard-fought battle between these two teams as they look to come out on top.
