Nico Iamaleava Passing Yards

A former five-star prospect, expectations are high for Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava. Unfortunately for the Long Beach, California native, he’s been disappointing since a sparking debut against the Chattanooga Mocs in Week 1.

In fact, Iamaleava has gone under 199.5 passing yards in five straight games. Concerningly, he owns a 61.6 PFF passing grade and already has six turnover-worthy plays to his name. He’s also been brutal under pressure, with just a 29.8 passing grade with a defender in his face.

Iamaleava looks ill-suited to Josh Heupel’s offense. The young pivot has struggled to build any type of rapport with his receivers. On top of that, the freshman’s lack of experience has shone through lately. The necessary rhythm and accuracy needed to keep Tennessee’s offense on track just hasn’t been there the past few weeks.

Alabama’s defense isn’t the menacing unit they’ve been in the past. However, they sport an elite 91.6 total defensive grade (6th) and a 90.2 coverage grade. Kane Wommack’s defense has allowed just 213 passing yards per game, and an elite 6.1 yards per pass (16th in the FBS). They’ve racked up 14 sacks and 74 total pressures already.

Expect Iamaleava to have a rough go in Knoxville on Saturday. The much-hyped prospect has averaged just 173.5 passing yards per game over his past four starts, against the likes of Arkansas and Florida. Alabama’s defense will have a field day.

CFB Week 8 Player Prop Pick: Nick Iamalaeava under 199.5 passing yards (-114)

Kalel Mullings Rushing Yards

Kalel Mullings had a rough outing last time out, as Michigan trailed for much of their game against Washington. However, prior to that he put up three straight games with at least 111 rushing yards.

Mullings has been a revelation for a  Wolverines offense that lacks explosive playmakers. For example, he’s averaged an insane 6.5 yards per carry, with 11 runs of 10 yards or more. Michigan runs the ball on over 55% of plays, which sits fourth across the Power Four. This means Mullings will have plenty of opportunities to exploit Illinois awful rushing defense.

According to PFF, the Illini have allowed a brutal 5.4 yards per carry. Additionally, they’ve posted the worst run-defense grade in the Power Four (61.2). I’m buying all the Mullings stock I can ahead of this massive mismatch. Kalel Mullings over 81.5 rushing yards is a top-tier college football Week 8 player prop play.

CFB Week 8 Player Prop Pick: Kalel Mullings over 81.5 rushing yards (-114)
