  • Read on to see our New Orleans Saints vs Philadelphia Eagles predictions, picks, and odds

Week 3 in the NFL features a match-up between the soaring New Orleans Saints (2-0, 2-0 ATS) and the visiting Philadelphia Eagles (1-1, 1-1 ATS) on Sunday afternoon (1 pm ET) at Caesars Superdome.

New Orleans has scored 91 points in their first two games of the season, which leads the NFL. Veteran quarterback Derek Carr leads all NFL pivots in passer rating (142.4) and running back Alvin Kamara had four touchdowns in a 44-19 win over Dallas last week.

The Eagles opened the season with a win over the Green Bay Packers in Brazil, but lost Monday night to Atlanta at home, 22-21. Dating back to last season, the Eagles have lost seven of their last nine regular-season games. The loss to the Falcons stung, because the Eagles opted not to try a chip-shot field goal in the first quarter and star running back Saquon Barkley dropped a late pass that could have sealed the win.

The Saints are currently listed as 2.5-point to three-point favorites in the Week 3 NFL odds. The over/under has been as high as 50 early in the week, but settled around 49.5.

Here’s my best pick for Saints vs Eagles in Week 3, and the best odds in this NFC battle.

Philadelphia Eagles vs New Orleans Saints Prediction & Picks

  • Saints -3.0 (+100) at Caesars
  • Over 49.0 (-120) at BetMGM

Something misfired in the middle of the Eagles season last year. They went from Super Bowl contenders at 10-1 to struggling to make the playoffs. Let’s be real. Coach Nick Sirianni is feeling some heat.

Philadelphia brought in Barkley from the rival Giants and he looked like a beast in the Week 1 win over the Packers, but he didn’t have the same effectiveness against Atlanta. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts looks like a star one play and inaccurate the next.

The Saints might be the biggest surprise in the NFL after two weeks. Ok, it doesn’t look like the Carolina Panthers are going to win a lot of games (and we’re being nice) but what the Saints did to the Cowboys was eye-opening. The Saints’ weak spot was supposed to be a young, rebuilt offensive line, but it’s been impressive through two games. New Orleans has found a true deep threat in the passing game in Rashid Shaheed, who is averaging 24.1 yards per catch, which is fourth in the NFL.

On the injury front, the Eagles are likely without top target AJ Brown again with a hamstring injury. Saints tight end/running back/quarterback Taysom Hill has been limited in practice with a chest injury.

This just seems like two teams heading in different directions. The Saints have been dominant in both wins, getting out to big leads early and then coasting.

Philadelphia has flashes, but seems to be lacking confidence in their scheme. The defense is 30th overall in yards allowed.

Eagles vs Saints Odds

The Saints are 2-0 in the NFL ATS records and have covered the spread comfortably in their first two games; they 6-4 ATS in their last 10 games looking back to last season. Meanwhile, the Eagles are 1-1 against the spread this year and 1-8-1 in their last 10 games, overall.

The pre-season spread had the Eagles as favorites – indeed, the opening Week 3 NFL odds listed Philadelphia at -2.5 – but the sportsbooks are now riding on the Saints, and the NFL public betting splits still list New Orleans getting the majority of ATS and moneyline handle.  The Eagles can still probably make a few plays relying on Hurts’ ability to run, but the Saints offense is humming. I think the Saints cover the spread comfortably and the game goes over.
