One week after Scottie Scheffler dismantled the field to the tune of an eight-stroke victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, the PGA Tour has a signature event on the calendar. The Truist Championship (formerly Wells Fargo Championship) typically is played at Quail Hollow Golf Club. However, with that course hosting the PGA Championship in two weeks time, we get a one-off host for the first time – Philadelphia Cricket Club (Wissahickon Course). Scheffler has opted out of playing as he prepares for the PGA, but the all the other top players on the circuit are teeing it up.

Truist Championship Odds 2025

Rory McIlroy, who has three victories in 2025 (Pebble Beach, Players Championship, Masters), is the overwhelming +400 favorite. He’s won this event four times, when it was at Quail Hollow. There’s a trio of golfers at +1600 behind him with major champions Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa, along with Ludvig Aberg. Justin Thomas, who won his last start at the RBC Heritage, rounds out the top-five.

Hideki Matsuyama Playing Solidly Entering Truist Championship

A golfer that often goes overlooked is Hideki Matsuyama and his eleven PGA Tour titles. He won to kick-off the season at the Sentry in January, and he’s put together enough good results since that could indicate he’s about to pick off another title. He has five top-25’s following that triumph in Hawaii, but he often flies under the radar, like he is entering this championship.

Past Truist Championship Winners

*There was no 2020 tournament due to COVID-19. Each tournament was not played at Philadelphia Cricket Club (Wissahickon Course), the site of this week’s tournament.

Matsuyama enters the Truist Championship with ten golfers sporting shorter odds to win. At +3500, I feel you’re getting Matsuyama at tremendous value, because if he contends, he often is able to close out championships. Contrast that to players above him, who have shorter odds but don’t often come out on top, or are on prolonged winless slumps. In the last 36 rounds, Matsuyama is second in strokes gained: tee-to-green, and ninth in total strokes gained.

Truist Championship 2025 Picks & Value Bets

  1. Sam Burns +5000: Sam Burns had a slow start to the year, but he’s been really showing signs of late that he’s ready to add to his five trophies. At the RBC Heritage, which was another signature event with a stacked field, he was T-13th. Then at this last weekend’s CJ Cup Byron Nelson, Burns was tied for fifth, despite being lapped by Scheffler. He doesn’t have to deal with the world #1 this week, which could lead to his first title since 2023.
  2. Andrew Novak +7000: Hard to find a player who is as hot as Andrew Novak has been. He was tied for third at the Valero Texas Open, runner-up in a playoff to Justin Thomas at Harbour Town, then won for the first time on the PGA Tour at the Zurich Classic with partner Ben Griffin. He’s still searching for his first individual triumph, and he’s been incredibly close of late, ranking third tee-to-green the last two stroke play tourneys.
  3. Brian Harman +8000: Brian Harman won this tournament in 2017, when it was also moved from it’s normal stop at Quail Hollow. The 2023 Open Champion won the Valero Texas Open last month, and followed that up with a T-3rd at the RBC Heritage in his last tournament. In the last twelve rounds, the lefty is fourth in total strokes gained.
  4. Harris English +10000: These are incredibly intriguing odds for a player who won earlier in the season at Torrey Pines for his fifth PGA Tour title. Since then, English has been solid, if unspectacular. He recently had a T-30, T-18, T-12 stretch, with the latter occurring at the Masters. He’ll be an interesting name to monitor in the top 5/10/20 markets.

The 2025 Truist Championship is shaping up to be one of the most exciting golf tournaments of the year, with a star-studded field of players set to compete for the coveted title. As the tournament approaches, fans and bettors alike are eagerly anticipating the action and looking for insights into who might come out on top.

When it comes to predicting the winner of the 2025 Truist Championship, there are a few key factors to consider. One of the most important things to look at is the current form of the players in the field. Golf is a sport that can be incredibly streaky, so players who are playing well leading up to the tournament are likely to have a better chance of performing well once they tee it up.

Another important factor to consider is the course itself. Different players excel on different types of courses, so it’s important to take into account how each player’s game matches up with the layout of the course where the tournament is being held. Additionally, weather conditions can play a significant role in how a tournament plays out, so keeping an eye on the forecast leading up to the event can also be helpful in making predictions.

As far as odds go, there are a few players who are currently being seen as favorites to win the 2025 Truist Championship. Players like Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, and Jon Rahm are all among the top picks to come out on top, based on their past performances and current form. However, golf is a notoriously unpredictable sport, and anything can happen once the players hit the course.

In addition to the favorites, there are also some dark horse picks who could surprise everyone and come out on top. Players like Viktor Hovland, Cameron Smith, and Scottie Scheffler have all been playing well recently and could be worth keeping an eye on as potential contenders for the title.

Ultimately, predicting the winner of a golf tournament is never an exact science, but by considering factors like current form, course layout, and weather conditions, fans and bettors can make more informed decisions when it comes to picking their favorites for the 2025 Truist Championship. With a talented field of players set to compete, this year’s tournament is sure to provide plenty of excitement and drama for golf fans around the world.
