- Vegas can close out the Minnesota Wild in Game 6 Thursday night at the Xcel Center.
- The Golden Knights have been outscored 17-15, but lead the series 3-2 and are favored by 1.5 goals for Game 6.
- Set your watch for an early start and read up on everything you need to know for Golden Knights vs Wild, including my look at the odds and prediction.
The Minnesota Wild (43-44 ATS) were inches away from a win in Game 5, but now find themselves facing elimination at home when it hosts the Vegas Golden Knights (49-38).
Vegas won the Stanley Cup in 2023, and has won more playoff series (11) in eight years of existence than the Wild have in 24 (4). Heartbreak is no stranger to Minnesota, which had a potential game-winning goal waved off with 1:15 left in Game 5 because Gustav Nyquist was found offsides after a review by a skate blade, barely. Vegas went on to win in overtime.
The Golden Knights know how to win, and I want to show you how to win with my prediction and look at the best odds for tonight’s Game 6.
Golden Knights vs Wild Start Time
The NHL did hockey fans a favor tonight, putting Game 6 of this exciting series at 7:30 p.m. ET, which is 4:30 p.m. PT for fans in Vegas. There are three games tonight on the western side of the Mississippi River, and this one drew the early slot, starting 30 minutes after Toronto’s potential Game 6 collapse against Ottawa (is this really happening again in Toronto?).
Dallas at Colorado is at 9:30 p.m. ET, while Edmonton and LA will drop the puck at 10 p.m.
It’s a great night to be a hockey fan.
Golden Knights at Wild Odds
Odds courtesy of BetMGM as of Thursday morning. Check out our BetMGM Sportsbook review and get an edge for the NHL playoffs.
Minnesota is getting 1.5 goals at home. The Wild have lost five in a row as underdogs after an overtime game, but are also 9-1 as home dogs in their last 10.
The Golden Knights have won eight of the last 10 meetings and are 22-14-7 on the road this season. And here’s the big one, teams with a 3-2 lead in the Stanley Cup playoffs win the series 79.2 percent of the time.
I found the best moneyline bet tonight on the Golden Knights is at Caesars at -164. Caesars also has the best odds for a Minnesota moneyline win at +140.
Golden Knights at Wild Prediction
Minnesota hasn’t been that good at home, just 23-17-3 this season, and has to be feeling an emotional sting after the Game 5 loss, so I am predicting Vegas rolls a big number and advances. Vegas has outscored the Wild 6-5 in the third period in this series, and, most importantly, 2-0 in overtime.
The Vegas offense has been dynamic. Tomas Hertl leads Vegas with three goals and two assists and five different Golden Knights have three points apiece. This means Minnesota can’t focus its defense on any one player.
Golden Knights netminder Adin Hill hasn’t put up good numbers this series. His save percentage is .865, but he’s played well when it mattered the most. Vegas’ ability to close out games has been the difference and will be again in Game 6.
