It’s not hard to make the case for Banchero. His usage and true shooting percentage have increased in each of his three NBA seasons, and the matchup versus an underwhelming Atlanta defense is very favorable. So favorable in fact, that Banchero enters play averaging 33 points against the Hawks this season.

But that was during the regular season, when the stakes were far less high. Postseason games tend to lean low scoring, and Play-In Tournament contests have been no exception. 10 of the 16 all-time have come in under the total, while the Atlanta-Orlando over/under sits at a slate-low 219 points.

Banchero relies on 8.5 free throw attempts per game to boost his production. Referees have a tendency to put their whistles away during the playoffs, which helps keep games lower scoring. Banchero is also a mediocre three-point shooter, which means he’s going to have to be a volume based scorer inside. Volume wouldn’t typically be a problem against a Hawks team that wants to push the pace. Orlando knows it can’t compete in that type of environment so they’re going to slow this game down to a snail’s pace.

I’m betting Banchero actually sees a reduction in shot attempts tonight as a result, which makes targeting under 30.5 points a no-brainer.

His assists ceiling is in the 20-22 range, a mark he’s hit multiple times this season. I don’t hate chasing alt. assists lines at much longer odds, but my priority is to bet over 9.5 assists first.
