A brutal nine-year All-Star Game losing streak was finally brought to an end last season by the National League with a 3-2 win in Seattle. On Monday, the Senior Circuit will aim to make it two in a row as the MLB’s best head to Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, for the annual Midsummer Classic.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm CT/8:00 pm ET and the 2024 MLB All-Star Game odds are, as per usual, fairly tight.

Team Moneyline Runline Total
National League +102 -1.5 (+170) O 7.5 (+100)
American League -122 +1.5 (-205) U 7.5 (-120)

Monday’s MLB odds list the American League, which will function as the home team, as -122 favorites with the NL at +102 to win two in a row for the first time since 2011-12.

The game total is sitting at 7.5 with the under slightly favored at -120 and the over at even-money

2024 MLB ASG Starting Lineups

Paul Skenes SP Corbin Burnes
William Contreras C Adley Rutschman
Bryce Harper 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr
Ketel Marte 2B Marcus Semien
Alec Bohm 3B Jose Ramirez
Trea Turner SS Gunnar Henderson
Christian Yelich LF Steven Kwan
Teoscar Hernandez CF Aaron Judge
Jurickson Profar RF Juan Soto
Shohei Ohtani DH Yordan Alvarez

Pittsburgh rookie sensation Paul Skenes is getting the nod to start on the mound for the National League, becoming the first rookie starter since Hideo Nomo in 1995. Nomo, of course, was already 27 by the time he come to the majors from Japan. Skenes, by contrast, is still just 22 and was the first-overall pick in the 2023 MLB draft.

Skenes has fully lived up to the hype in his first season, going 6-0 in his first 11 starts with a 1.90 ERA and 0.92 WHIP.

While Skenes doesn’t quite qualify for the MLB leaderboards yet, among pitchers with at least 60 innings under their belt, he sits second in the MLB in ERA, first in xFIP, second in K%, and T1 in K-to-BB ratio.

Starting opposite Skenes will be 2021 NL Cy Young-winner Corbin Burnes, who is 9-4 with a 2.43 ERA and 1.045 WHIP in his first season with Baltimore.

Burnes is third among qualified pitchers in ERA (2.43) this season, but just 15th in xFIP (3.35).

MLB All-Star Game Predictions

The AL has a slightly more-potent lineup on paper: nine of the top 13 in the MLB in OPS hail from the American League. But I expect the National League to have a pretty sizable advantage on the mound. Burnes is hit-and-miss at the moment – and honestly Tarik Skubal or Garrett Crochet should be getting the start –  I will gladly back a combination of Skenes, Chris Sale, Zack Wheeler, Tyler Glasnow, and Reynaldo Lopez against the AL’s staff.

On the whole, I expect another low-scoring MLB All-Star Game. Six of the last seven ASGs have stayed under 7.5 runs (only an 8-6 AL win in 2018 breaks the trend) and the average total over that span is just 5.86 runs per game.

MLB ASG picks:

  • National League moneyline (+102)
  • Under 7.5 runs (-120)
