- The Seattle Mariners host the Houston Astros on Memorial Day at 9:40 p.m. ET.
- The Mariners are currently the top team in the AL West while the Astors sit in the middle of the pack in the AL West, 3/5.

The top team in the NL West faces off against the middle team in the AL West Monday night at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington. The Mariners (28-26, 15-10 home) will battle the Astros in the first of a 4-game series at 9:40 p.m. ET (6:40 PT).
The Mariners and Astros have played once before this season, with Seattle winning a 3-game series 2-1 in Houston. The Astros, led by Jose Altuve and Jeremy Pena, have won all but 1 series since that series loss to Seattle in early May.
Seattle Mariners vs. Houston Astros Prediction
Seattle may have the better record, but Houston is simply playing better baseball right now. The Astros have the best batting average in the league and are one of only 2 teams with over 475 hits entering May 27 (Padres). Not to mention, the Astros are 10-5 in their last 15 games.
Houston won their series over Oakland yesterday 5-2.
But while the Astros have thrived at the plate, especially as of late, they’ve struggled on the mound. Houston’s team ERA sits at 4.46 – a mark that’s bottom 5 in the league. Seattle, on the contrary, sits at a 3.69 ERA and is tied with Philadelphia for the most quality starts in Major League Baseball at 31. Houston’s number sits at 18, if you’re wondering.
Seattle has the pitching advantage tonight, but it may not be enough to overcome a ferocious battling lineup for the Astros. Bryce Miller has struggled some lately against power teams such as Baltimore and the Yankees, allowing 10 runs combined with just 5 strikeouts. Both of those starts were on the road, so Miller may be able to turn in 6 or 7 solid innings in front of a home crowd.
As you’ll see below, Houston is the road favorite for this game, but this matchup is so close that Mariners +1.5 is the safer play. I’d wager the over should hit with relative ease given Miller’s struggles against quality competition.
HOU vs. SEA picks: Mariners +1.5 (-170), O 7.5 (+100)

The Astros are the slight road favorites for Monday’s Game 1, sitting at -130 on the moneyline and +140 odds to win by 2 or more runs. Conversely, the Mariners are +110 on moneyline and given -170 odds to win or keep it within a run. The Astros are 4-9 this season as the away favorite while Seattle is 4-2 as the home underdog.
As for the over/under, the total has been set at 7.5, which seems low for this pitching matchup in my opinion, though recent trends do not agree. The Astros have been lighting opposing pitchers up and Miller has struggled against strong hitting teams as of late. Not to mention, the over yields more attractive odds.
Due to their pitching, Seattle is 21-30 against the over this season while Houston is 21-29-3 against the over. Houston is 4-8-1 against the over as the away favorite. The last game against the Astros that Miller pitched finished 5-4 in favor of Seattle (May 5).
Houston Astros vs. Seattle Mariners Player Prop Picks
Player Props (Colorado vs. Philadelphia) | Odds |
---|---|
Yordan Alvarez over 0.5 Hits | -255 |
Jose Altuve over 0.5 Strikeouts | -185 |
Dylan Moore over 1.5 Total Bases | +130 |
The first 2 props on this list have a high likelihood of happening if recent trends are to be taken into account, though admittedly the odds are not particularly attractive. Altuve has struck out in 9 of his last 10 and faces the best pitching team among all those games tonight. Alvarez, on the other hand, has recorded 9 hits in the last 6 games and faces Miller for a 2nd time on Monday night.
Moore is an interesting one. He’s hit a pair of doubles and a pair of dingers in the past 7 days, averaging a hit a game. Houston is not know for its prowess on the mound, so if you want to touch a prop with lower odds this is the one to go for.

The Houston Astros will face off against the Seattle Mariners on May 27th in what is sure to be an exciting matchup between these two American League West rivals. As the teams prepare to take the field, fans and bettors alike are eager to see how the game will unfold and what predictions can be made about the outcome.
One of the key factors to consider when making predictions for this game is the pitching matchup. The Astros are expected to send ace pitcher Zack Greinke to the mound, while the Mariners will likely counter with left-handed pitcher Yusei Kikuchi. Greinke has been solid for the Astros this season, posting a 4-1 record with a 3.77 ERA. Kikuchi, on the other hand, has struggled at times, with a 1-3 record and a 4.30 ERA. This could give the Astros an edge in the pitching department.
In terms of player props, there are a few players to keep an eye on in this game. Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker has been hot at the plate recently, hitting .289 with 10 home runs and 35 RBIs on the season. He could be a good bet to hit a home run or drive in a run in this game. Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger has also been a standout player for Seattle, hitting .266 with 12 home runs and 34 RBIs. He could be a player to watch for a big performance in this game.
As for the odds, the Astros are currently favored to win this game, with odds of -150. The Mariners are the underdogs, with odds of +130. This means that a bet of $150 on the Astros would win $100, while a bet of $100 on the Mariners would win $130. The over/under for total runs scored in the game is set at 8.5.
Overall, this game is shaping up to be a competitive matchup between two talented teams. With Greinke on the mound for the Astros and Haniger leading the way for the Mariners, there should be plenty of excitement and action for fans and bettors alike. Keep an eye on player props and odds leading up to the game to make informed predictions and potentially cash in on some winning bets.
