Boston Celtics vs LA Lakers Predictions
- LA Lakers -1 (-112) at Caesars
We’re going to back LA in this spot for a few reasons. For one, their roster is finally nearing full strength. Both LeBron James and Anthony Davis will play despite showing up on the injury report, while Jarred Vanderbilt will make hi season debut.
Vanderbilt hasn’t played since suffering a foot sprain last February. He underwent multiple procedures to get him ready for training camp, only to be sidelined with a knee issue. The 6-8 forward was enjoying one of the best statistical seasons of his career prior to his injury in 2024, averaging 10.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.3 steals per outing.
The added offensive production will be a bonus, but his biggest impact will be felt on defense. Vanderbilt is a long, rangy defender that gives opposing team’s fits. LA has struggled this season at the defensive end, ranking bottom-10 in defensive rating. They have shown improvements recently however, ranking fifth in that category over the past five games, and Vanderbilt’s return will only boost their stock.
Speaking of recent form, that favors the Lakers greatly. LA is 4-1 in their last five contest, posting the league’s fourth best Net Rating over that stretch. They dismantled the NBA Championship odds favorite Boston by 21 points last time out, fuelled by 20 points and 14 rebounds from LeBron James, and 24 points from Anthony Davis.
While the Lakers are getting healthy, the Warriors are down key contributors. Both Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga remain out. That puts Golden State down two of its top-four rebounders, and two of its top-five defenders. That’s problematic against LA, especially given the Warriors recent struggles.
Golden State is 4-6 over its last 10 games, posting the NBA’s fifth worst NET rating. Steph Curry is still shooting well from the outside, but his overall scoring numbers are down. Curry is averaging only 22.6 points per game this season, his lowest mark over a full season since 2011-12. That’s led to the Warriors ranking 19th in offensive rating so far, six spots lower than the Lakers.

NBA player props from DraftKings Sportsbook on January 25.
Switching over to the NBA props market, we’ll find Curry with the highest points prop at 24.5. AD has the largest over/under for rebounds at 12.5, while LeBron’s 8.5 assist prop is the highest in that category.
We’re looking to fade Curry tonight, and we’ll do so in the points+rebounds category. His prop in that market sits at 29.5, a total he hasn’t cleared in three games. We can bank on 3-4 rebounds for Steph, meaning he’ll need 26+ points to clear this prop most likely.
His shooting volume is down this season, as are his minutes. He’s averaging three shots less per game than his peak seasons, and roughly three less minutes. Golden State is rotating more guard play than in recent memory, and the Lakers improved defense reduces his likelihood of a ceiling outcome.
Pick: Steph Curry Under 29.5 Points + Rebounds (-115)

The highly anticipated matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors on January 25th is sure to be a thrilling game for basketball fans. Both teams have had successful seasons so far, with the Lakers currently holding the top spot in the Western Conference and the Warriors not far behind in the standings.
When it comes to predictions for this game, it’s difficult to say which team will come out on top. The Lakers have been playing exceptional basketball led by superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis. However, the Warriors have shown flashes of their former dominance with Stephen Curry leading the charge.
In terms of player props, there are several key players to keep an eye on in this matchup. For the Lakers, LeBron James is always a safe bet to put up big numbers in points, rebounds, and assists. Anthony Davis will also be a player to watch as he looks to dominate in the paint against the Warriors’ defense.
On the Warriors side, Stephen Curry will undoubtedly be the focal point of their offense. Look for him to take a high volume of shots from beyond the arc and drive to the basket to create scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. Draymond Green will also be a key player to watch as he looks to anchor the Warriors’ defense and contribute on the offensive end.
As for the odds for this game, it’s likely that the Lakers will be favored given their strong record and star-studded lineup. However, the Warriors are always a dangerous team, especially when playing at home in front of their passionate fan base.
Overall, this game has all the makings of a classic showdown between two of the NBA’s top teams. Fans can expect a high-scoring affair with plenty of highlight-reel plays from both sides. Whether you’re rooting for the Lakers or the Warriors, this is a game you won’t want to miss.
