After playing one of the most-thrilling games of the regular season last week, the Minnesota Timberwolves (22-20, 12-10 away, 16-25-1 ATS) and Memphis Grizzlies (27-15, 15-5 home, 28-14 ATS) will meet again on Monday afternoon at FedEx Forum in Memphis at 1:40 pm CT/2:40 pm ET. Though Ja Morant is questionable due to a foot injury, the Grizzlies are still 5.5-point favorites at most sportsbooks in Monday’s NBA odds.
MIN Timberwolves vs MEM Grizzlies Prediction
- Timberwolves +6.0 (-110) at bet365
- Jaren Jackson Jr under 22.5 points (-115) at DraftKings
- Edwards over 25.5 points (-125) at DraftKings Odds as of Jan. 20. Claim the best bonuses from new sports betting sites.
These teams met in Minneapolis on January 11 and Memphis walked away with a 127-125 road win thanks to a Ja Morant go-ahead jumper with 18 seconds to play. Morant (21.4 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 7.5 APG) had just 12 points on the night, though, and it was Jaren Jackson’s 33-point outburst that really propelled Memphis to the road victory.
Morant missed Memphis’ last game, but the Grizzlies were just fine without the two-time All-Star during a 140-112 road win over the Spurs. Santi Aldama led the way with 29 points.
Minnesota is 2-2 since losing to Memphis, losing to Golden State (116-115 home) and Cleveland (124-117 home) and beating Washington (120-106 away) and New York (116-99 away). The Timberwolves are, very quietly, on a four-game road win streak.
The Timberwolves have been infuriatingly inconsistent all season. And, as evidenced by their horrendous 16-25-1 ATS record, a lot more was expected of Chris Finch’s team this season. That said, they are a hard team to pull away from. Only once in the last team games has Minnesota lost by more than seven points.
Given that Morant may not even suit up tonight, I love the value on the Timberwolves catching six points. I’m also betting Jackson (22.6 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 2.1 APG) to stay under his point total of 22.5. While he torched Minnesota for 33 just last week, that was the only time in the last five games he’s gone over 22.5 points. The Timberwolves still have a top-ten defense (seventh in D-Rating at 110.5) and play at the fourth-slowest tempo in the NBA.
Anthony Edwards (26.1 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 4.3 APG), on the other hand, has scored at least 28 points in four straight and is averaging 36.6 PPG in his last five road games.
