The Cleveland Cavaliers (27-4, 10-3 away, ATS) bring a six-game win streak into the Bay Area on Monday night when they visit the Golden State Warriors (16-15, 8-7 home, ATS) at the Chase Center at 7:10 pm PT/10:10 pm ET. The NBA-best Cavaliers enter Monday night as road favorites, laying 4.0 or 4.5 points in the NBA odds, depending on the sportsbook.
Cleveland Cavaliers vs Golden State Warriors Predictions
This is the second meeting of the season between the Cavs and Warriors, and Cleveland manhandled Golden State at home in the first, earning a 136-117 victory, spearheaded by 27 points from Darius Garland (20.6 PPG, 2.6 RPG, 6.4 APG).
Cleveland also enters Monday on a six-game win streak and victors in ten of their last eleven. The Cavs took down Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets in Denver on Friday (149-135) with Donovan Mitchell (23.6 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 4.7 APG) scoring a team-high 33.
Golden State got a much-needed win last time out, taking down Kevin Durant’s Suns 109-105, led by a season-high-tying 34 points off the bench from Jonathan Kuminga (16.7 PPG, 4.9 RPG, 2.1 APG), who also had a team-high 34 in Friday’s 102-92 loss at the Clippers with Steph Curry (22.5 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 6.5 APG) sidelined.
There is no denying that the Cavs first third of the season is the stuff of legend. But it’s the manner in which they’ve been doing it that appears unsustainable. After finishing last season 16th in Offensive Rating (114.7), the Cavs are first in the NBA this year (121.7) without making any meaningful additions (or subtractions) in the offseason.
Cleveland’s effective field-goal percentage (EFG%) is a league-best 59.7% which is 2.2% higher than any other team and 4.2% higher than last season (55.7%). It’s not like the Cavs are built around an exceedingly young core that’s just starting to blossom, either.
Cleveland has been far more than a sum of its parts this season and the regression is coming. I’ll take the Warriors to hold serve on their home court at a nice price.
