It’s a biggie in the West Sunday, when the LA Lakers (47-30, 17-20 away), still jockeying for playoff position in the Top 6, see how they stack up on the road against the NBA-best OKC Thunder (64-13, 34-5 home). The Thunder, who just watched their 11-game win streak go up in smoke in a blowout to the Rockets, are still a heavy favorite vs the Lakers in the NBA odds. Action gets underway from Paycom Center in Oklahoma City beginning at 3:30pm ET, with NBA TV broadcasting the game.

Lakers vs Thunder Odds

Los Angeles finds itself as a distant 9-point road underdog, and a lengthy +290 on the moneyline. OKC is on the other end of that betting spectrum, drawing -360 odds. The total checks in at 233 points, with -110 sides on either side. The Under has cashed in the last three head-to-head matchups.

The Lakers have LeBron James (groin) on his usual space on the injured list, though he’s probable to take on the Thunder. Bronny James (illness) missed LA’s last game vs New Orleans, but his status for Sunday is not yet known. Maxi Kleber (foot) is still at least a week from returning, though he’s progressed to on-court activities.

OKC has some injury concerns of their own, with the other Jaylin Williams (ankle) ruled out for Sunday. He joins Ousmane Dieng (calf), Alex Ducas (quad) and Ajay Mitchell (toe) on the sidelines.

LAL vs OKC Player Props

Not surprising that the NBA’s leading scorer gets the highest scoring total for this matchup, with SGA tabbed at 30.5 points. It’s been a rough go the last couple of games for the favorite in the NBA MVP odds, as he’s shooting 41.7% from the field and 23.1% from 3-point range in his last two games.

Luka Doncic has the highest scoring prop for the Lakers at 27.5, but notable that Austin Reaves is in at 18.5 points. AR-15 dropped 30 on New Orleans last game, giving him 30+ points in four of his last five contests.

Luka and LeBron tie for the highest assist prop at 8.5, while Luka sits alone with the highest 3-point make line at 3.5.

Los Angeles Lakers vs OKC Thunder Picks

  • Lakers vs Thunder pick: Lakers +9 (-110)
  • Lakers vs Thunder prop bet: Reaves Over 18.5 points (-120)

The Lakers currently sit alone in third in the West, but a lot can change, especially as they play the first of a 2-game set in OKC against the Thunder, who have already clinched the conference’s top seed.

It’s part of LA’s closing 5-game slate, with four of them on the road. There are only 1.5 games separating 3rd-place LA and eight-seeded Memphis, so any slip ups could put teams currently in Top-6 positioning in the play-in.

The Lakers have won three of their last four, including a 124-108 win over the Pelicans last game. It was a big bounce back for Luka Doncic, who vowed to be better after a rough outing in a biggie vs Golden State the previous game, which the Lakers lost 123-116.

OKC leads the NBA in defensive rating, but Doncic has the ability to dust any defense, if he’s going well. He almost single-handedly dumped the top-seeded Thunder in last year’s playoffs, with three straight triple doubles to close out that series.

It’s also a good chance to see how LA’s defense will hold against one of the top scoring offenses in basketball, as the Thunder put up 120.4 points per game, the fourth-best mark in basketball. The Lakers are 12th in points allowed, at a decent 112.3 points per game.

The Lakers are fortunate that, other than SGA chasing down MVP, there is nothing left to play for. With the conference already locked, the only outside shot they were hoping for was a shot at 70 wins. That was over when the Rockets dumped them 125-111.

That game was definitely the outlier of the group, as the Thunder are a sparkling 9-1-0 ATS in their last 10 games.

But they have had their problems with the Lakers of late. Aside from OKC’s 101-93 win in November of this year, the Lakers had win five of the previous six matchups, going 4-2-0 ATS.

LA is a Top-8 cover team coming off a win, going 26-19-1 against the spread, while the Thunder are 7-5-1 ATS following a loss. OKC is also an impressive 26-11-2 ATS as a home favorite, second only to the Clippers.

While the Thunder will show up to play, I don’t think Mark Daigneault will tax his players or lineups to gut out a win. That doesn’t mean resting players, but the smart thing now is to get healthy and avoid injury before the playoffs.

Because of that, I think the Lakers stick around and take advantage of that 9-point spread.

The Los Angeles Lakers are set to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder on April 6th in what promises to be an exciting matchup between two Western Conference teams. As the regular season winds down and playoff positioning becomes more crucial, both teams will be looking to secure a win in this game.

The Lakers come into this game with a record of 30-41, currently sitting in 11th place in the Western Conference. Despite dealing with injuries to key players such as LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Lakers have managed to stay competitive and will be looking to build some momentum heading into the playoffs. With players like Russell Westbrook and Malik Monk stepping up in the absence of their stars, the Lakers will be looking to continue their recent success.

On the other hand, the Thunder have struggled this season and currently hold a record of 21-50, placing them at the bottom of the Western Conference standings. However, they have shown flashes of potential with young players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey leading the way. The Thunder will be looking to play spoiler and pull off an upset against the Lakers in this game.

In terms of predictions for this game, the Lakers are favored to come out on top given their recent form and overall talent level. With players like Westbrook and Monk playing well, the Lakers should have enough firepower to secure a win against the struggling Thunder. However, the Thunder have shown that they can compete with top teams on any given night, so they should not be taken lightly.

As for player props, look for Westbrook to have a big game against his former team. Westbrook always plays with a chip on his shoulder when facing the Thunder, and he should be motivated to put up a strong performance in this game. Look for him to rack up points, assists, and rebounds as he looks to lead the Lakers to victory.

Overall, this game should be an entertaining matchup between two teams with different goals for the remainder of the season. While the Lakers are looking to secure a playoff spot, the Thunder will be looking to play spoiler and show that they are a team on the rise. It should be a competitive game with plenty of exciting moments for fans to enjoy.
