  • The Golden State Warriors visit the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday night
  • Ja Morant (back) is questionable for Memphis while Marcus Smart (shoulder) is doubtful

With injury and suspension issues mostly in the past, the Memphis Grizzlies (18-9, 12-3 home, 18-9 ATS) are orchestrating one of the greatest season-to-season turnarounds in NBA history. A year after going 27-55 and finishing third-last in the West, the Grizzlies sit in the #2 seed in the Western Conference roughly a third of the way through the season. On Thursday night, Memphis welcomes the Golden State Warriors (14-11, 7-6 away, 15-10 ATS) to FedExForum for a 7:40 pm CT/8:40 pm ET tip-off.

Golden State Warriors vs Memphis Grizzlies Prediction

While Morant is listed as questionable in the official injury report for Thursday night, it’s clear that sportsbooks expect him to be in the lineup. Not only is Memphis still priced as the favorite, Morant is listed in the player props along with six of his teammates. That simply wouldn’t happen if books were actually worried that the tw0-time All-Star wouldn’t be in the lineup on Thursday night.

With Ja in the lineup, the Grizzlies are 8-1 on their home court (and 11-5 overall). That includes a run of seven straight home victories since losing to Brooklyn on Oct. 30. They avenged that loss in their last home game on Dec. 13, routing the Nets 135-119 with Morant dropping a game-high 28 points and ten assists.

The Warriors, meanwhile, haven’t exactly been in a freefall, but their play has certainly dropped off since their red-hot 12-3 start to the season. Golden State has dropped eight of its last ten games. That includes a 144-133 loss at home to Dallas last time out on Sunday, a game in which the Warriors allowed the Mavericks to shoot 59.8% from the field.

I expect Memphis to stay strong at home, adding to the Warriors recent struggles. I’m also taking Curry to stay under his point total of 24.5. Curry has stayed under that number if four of six games, overall, and five in a row on the road.
