On paper, the LA Lakers (26-18, 10-12 away) vs Philadelphia 76ers (17-27, 7-13 home) matchup tonight is loaded with star power. The problem is, two of the biggest names won’t be suiting up for Philly. That’s prompted online sportsbooks to forecast another Lakers win in tonight’s NBA odds, despite this game being the second leg of a back-to-back. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:40 pm PT/7:40 pm ET at the Wells Fargo Center, in Philadelphia, PA, with TNT providing the broadcast coverage.

LA Lakers vs Philadelphia 76ers Predictions
- LA Lakers -3.5 (-112) at Caesars
Simply put, the 76ers are a mess. They’ve dropped seven of their past nine, and will be missing both Joel Embiid (knee) and Paul George (finger). Embiid hasn’t played since January 4th, and has suited up only 13 times all season. The Sixers are 7-6 in those contests, but 10-21 without the former top NBA MVP odds contender.
George meanwhile, will miss his 15th game of the season with a finger injury he suffered Saturday. Philly has played only 13 games all season with both George and Embiid in the lineup, and when they’ve both sat the results haven’t been pretty. The 76ers are 3-11 in those outings, with two of the three wins coming versus bottom-feeders Washington and Brooklyn.
Philly’s offense has cratered without its top-two stars, averaging only 106.6 points per game. Extrapolated over the entire season, that would rank them 28th in scoring. Their absences will put more of the offensive burden on Tyrese Maxey’s plate. The 24-year-old is averaging a career-high 26.6 points per game this season, but his efficiency has taken a hit. He’s shooting only 43% from the field and 33% from 3, while averaging fewer assists than a season ago.
Being shorthanded versus a red-hot Lakers squad is not a recipe for success. LA is fresh off its sixth win in seven games after dispatching Charlotte last night. Anthony Davis put up his fifth career 40 point, 20 rebound effort, while LeBron James added 22 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds.
The Lakers are third in the league in Net Rating over the past seven games, and top-five in defensive rating. Their four-game winning streak includes victories over Boston and Golden State, with each win coming by five or more points. Sometimes it’s as simple as backing the healthier team, in much better form.

NBA player props from DraftKings Sportsbook on January 28.
Switching over to the NBA props market, where Maxey has the highest points prop at 29.5. Davis owns the highest rebounds over/under at 12.5, while James has a game-high 8.5 assist prop.
We’re going to stay away from LeBron’s play-making, and attack the under on his 24.5 points prop. It’s a number he’s cleared only once in the last five games, and tonight could result in less playing time. Yes, LA is only favored by 3.5, but we don’t expect this game to be close.
James is likely to see less than his usual allotment of minutes in the second leg of a back-to-back regardless of game script. Add in the blowout risk, and the odds of less minutes increase. Also working against him, is a lack of efficiency recently. He’s shot below 50% in five of his past six games, and is 1 for his last 11 from beyond the arc.
Pick: LeBron James Under 24.5 Points (-125) at Caesars

The highly anticipated matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Philadelphia 76ers on January 28th is sure to be a thrilling game for basketball fans. Both teams are stacked with talent and have been performing well this season, making it difficult to predict the outcome of this game. However, there are some key player props and predictions that fans can consider when placing their bets or simply watching the game.
One of the most intriguing player props to watch for this game is the battle between LeBron James and Joel Embiid. Both players are having outstanding seasons and are leading their respective teams in scoring. LeBron has been a dominant force on the court, averaging over 25 points per game, while Embiid has been a force in the paint, averaging over 30 points per game. It will be interesting to see how these two superstars match up against each other and who will come out on top in this game.
Another player prop to keep an eye on is the performance of Anthony Davis for the Lakers. Davis has been dealing with some injuries this season, but when he is healthy, he is a game-changer for the Lakers. If Davis is able to play at his best against the 76ers, he could be a key factor in helping the Lakers secure a win in this game.
On the 76ers side, Ben Simmons will be a player to watch in this matchup. Simmons is known for his versatility on the court, being able to score, rebound, and facilitate plays for his teammates. If Simmons can have a big game against the Lakers, it could give the 76ers a significant advantage in this matchup.
In terms of predictions for this game, it is difficult to say which team will come out on top. Both the Lakers and the 76ers have been playing well this season and have strong rosters. However, if the Lakers are able to contain Embiid and Simmons and if LeBron and Davis can perform at their best, they may have a slight edge in this game.
Overall, the Lakers vs 76ers game on January 28th is shaping up to be an exciting matchup between two top teams in the NBA. Fans can expect a high-scoring and competitive game with plenty of highlight plays from both sides. Keep an eye on key player props and predictions to enhance your viewing experience of this highly anticipated game.
